ROME -- Defending champion Italy will not use its top players at the United States in the first round of the Fed Cup. Yeezy Sko Tilbud . The Italian tennis federation says in a statement that Sara Errani, Roberta Vinci, Flavia Pennetta and Francesca Schiavone asked to skip the Feb. 8-9 competition in Cleveland. Instead, Italy captain Corrado Barazzutti will likely rely on Camila Giorgi, Karin Knapp, Nastassja Burnett and Alice Matteucci. The top players cited a travel schedule that would have taken them from the Australian Open to a tournament in Paris, then Cleveland, then to another tournament in Doha, Qatar -- over a 16-day span. Errani and Vinci won the Australian Open doubles title Friday. Barazzutti says, "We decided to accept the request of our veterans." The team will be named officially Wednesday. Fake Yeezy Danmark . I kind of got a taste of being able to pick a suit with the draft lottery, I went with the bow tie. Fake Yeezy Danmark Køb . On Thursday, a judge said Varlamov could be released if he posted $5,000 bond and be allowed to travel with the team but he was ordered to stay away from his girlfriend, among other restrictions. http://www.yeezyskodanmark.com/ . Judging by his performance Saturday night, Cotto has plenty left in the tank. Cotto became the first Puerto Rican fighter to win world championships in four weight divisions, stopping Sergio Martinez in their WBC world middleweight title fight Saturday night.FLORHAM PARK, N.J. - Eric Deckers balky right hamstring is acting up again. The New York Jets wide receiver sat out practice Thursday with tightness in his leg, leaving his status uncertain for the teams game at San Diego on Sunday. Hopefully, Decker will be all right, coach Rex Ryan said. Im hopeful hell play, but that was just something we felt, that it would be best to not have him practice today. Decker was limited Wednesday, but participated only in individual drills Thursday before sitting out the rest of practice as a precaution. Were just trying to be smart, Decker said. Its kind of a touch-and-feel situation with a hamstring. Its kind of my first time dealing with a soft tissue (injury). If it doesnt feel right, I just didnt want to push it overboard. So, its kind of day to day. Decker has been bothered by the hamstring since injuring it in Week 2 at Green Bay a€” which was actually an aggravation of an injury that first occurred during training camp. He said his hamstring felt tight when he woke up Thursday and couldnt get it loose. He just never felt right, Ryan said, and thats why we just backed him down. Decker has been listed as questionable before each of the last two games, but played in both. He had one catch for 19 yards against Chicago before being taken out of the game as a precaution. Decker bounced back with four catches for 48 yards and a touchdown while playing most of the game against Detroit before he felt a bit of fatigue in the second half. I felt good in the first half, he said. I felt like I really had no setbacks, didnt really feel it too much. I wouldnt say that I was going 100 per cent, but I was definitely close. Ryan said it can always be a concern that a hamstring issue could be a llingering issue, and Decker indicated that he has considered that. Yeezy Boost Danmark. I dont think anything is better than rest, but its hard as a competitor to say, All right, Im just going to do nothing for two weeks, Decker said. I want to be out there. If I can go in any capacity, I want to go. Thats my mentality. Obviously, I just need to be smart with it. Well have that conversation. Well see how (Friday) is. Decker might not be the only wide receiver who wont play at San Diego. David Nelson sat out practice for the second straight day with a sprained left ankle, and Ryan said theres a chance he could play a€” but not if he doesnt practice at all this week. Nelson, who has six catches for 45 yards, said he will fly to San Diego with the team, whether he can play or not. I do feel very confident, Nelson said of his chances of playing. I did a lot of work out there today that was definitely a step in the right direction. Cornerback Dee Milliner (quadriceps) and safety Calvin Pryor were full practice participants after being limited Wednesday. Center Nick Mangold (shoulder) and right guard Willie Colon (knee) were limited, but are expected to play. NOTES: Offensive co-ordinator Marty Mornhinweg on the struggling offence so far: Some of the things, shoot, Im sort of proud of. Some of our numbers are pretty good. But nothing probably to write home to Mom about. But, maybe Grandma. Grandmas, they think everythings great. ... Ryan, who was retained in the off-season, on whether it would be nice to have a vote of confidence from owner Woody Johnson about his status beyond this season: No, hey, shoot, Im not expecting a new salary at 1-3. Believe me, Im just glad he never said another two words that he could have said. ' ' '

TORONTO, Ontario (CP) -- Nazem Kadri will be at Toronto Maple Leafs training camp after all. Wales Soccer Jerseys . Kadri signed a two-year, US$5.8-million deal on the eve of the start of camp, ending contentious contract talks between the restricted free agent centre and the team. "Happy to be with the leafs for the next couple years, looking forward to camp," said Kadri from his verified Twitter account adding the hashtags ".leafnation .bestnation." Kadri enjoyed a stellar 2013, putting up 18 goals and 26 assists in 48 games during his first full NHL season. The 22-year-old seemed to think that production was enough to earn a long-term contract from the Maple Leafs. Instead, Kadri and Toronto agreed to a so-called "bridge" deal that gives him another two years to prove his value. "Congrats to @43--Kadri on the new contract," Maple Leafs enforcer Frazer McLaren tweeted. "Thanks for dinner." Montreal Canadiens defenceman P.K. Subban missed the start of last season while trying to get a longer deal but eventually settled for two years and $5.75 million. Subban won the Norris Trophy as a 24-year-old. Kadris cap hit of $2.9 million will be higher than Subbans $2.875 million. In 99 career games, Kadri has 26 goals and 37 assists. He was the No. 7 pick of the Maple Leafs in the 2009 draft after playing for the London Knights and Kitchener Rangers of the OHL. Signing Kadri leaves one major question for the Maple Leafs: the status of restricted-free-agent defenceman Cody Franson, who remained unsigned as of Tuesday night. The 26-year-old Franson enjoyed a career year in 2013 with four goals and 25 assists. The Maple Leafs have roughly $2 million under the salary cap. Training camp begins Wednesday morning. Gareth Bale Wales Jersey . Cesar said the difficulties he went through after the 2010 World Cup helped him become "a better professional" and made him "more focused" on his career. Subbans power-play goal 4:08 into overtime sent the Montreal Canadiens into the All-Star break with a 2-1 win over the Nashville Predators on Tuesday.NEW YORK -- Derek Jeter gave Yangervis Solarte some assistance with Yankee Stadium tradition, then the rookie helped make the captain a winner in his final home opener Monday as New York beat the Baltimore Orioles 4-2. Jeter doubled high off the left-field wall and scored on Jacoby Ellsburys first hit in pinstripes in the fifth. Hiroki Kuroda (1-1) pitched 6 1-3 sharp innings in the Yankees 112th opener in New York. In what manager Joe Girardi said would be a season-long lovefest for Jeter, the shortstop was cheered every step of the way by an adoring crowd of 48, 142 -- even when his double-play grounder back to Orioles starter Ubaldo Jimenez (0-2) scored Solarte in the third inning for the first run. Solarte, a career minor leaguer and non-roster invitee to spring training, continued a torrid start as the suspended Alex Rodriguezs replacement at third base with a go-ahead RBI single in the fourth inning. Playing in his first game in the Bronx, Solarte needed Jeter to tell him to wave to the Bleacher Creatures when they chanted his name during pregame roll call. The Orioles got RBI singles from Matt Wieters and Nelson Cruz in falling to 2-5. Adam Jones and Chris Davis struck out against Adam Warren with a runner on in the eighth and trailing 4-2. Shawn Kelley pitched a perfect ninth for his first career save. Minutes later, the Yankees said closer David Robertson would be put on the disabled list with a strained groin. After missing all but 17 games last season, Jeter announced Feb. 12 his 20th season would be his final one. His retirement tour started on the road, where New York went 3-3 against Houston and Toronto. But Jeter, who went 1 for 4, has said the season doesnt really start until the Yankees have had their home opener, and to help celebrate the team brought together the five-time World Series champion Core Four. Recently retired teammates Andy Pettitte and Mariano Rivera threw ceremonial first pitches to Jeter and Jorge Posada, who retired after 2011. With an era coming to a close, change was evident everywhere. Robertson moved into Riveras locker. A-Rods nameplate was not above his locker and the new plush chair sitting in front of the stall did not have a No. 13 embroidered in the seatback. Solarte scored New Yorks first run, starting the third with a walk after falling behind 0-2. He advanced to third when Brett Gardner, the only holdover starter from last years opening-day lineup, lined a sharp single to centre field and Jones was slow to get the ball into the infield. Solarte scored on Jeters double-play ball back to Jimenez. Solarte went 1 for 3 and is 9 for 20 this season with six RBIs. The Orioles got the run right back in the fourth when Jones singled, moved to second when Gardner made a leaping catch in foul territory down the line in left on Davis popup and scored on Wieters single. Leading 2-1, the Yankees chased Jimenez in the fifth after Brian Roberts walked to load the bases. But Zach Britton entered and walked Kelly Johnson to make it 4-1. Jimenez yielded four runs and eight hits, walked five and struck out four in his second shaky start since signing a four-year contract in February. The next morning we rolled into Moncton… With a few online interviews to deal with, and one radio at C103 (killer station!) that Stuart and I covered off so JM could relax and sleep it off with various cold meds. Seth Joyner Youth Jersey .At sound check time in Halifax Jeff looked significantly better… But I was cautioning him to keep his vocals in check and to not give it all out at the VIP sound party. The VIP portion of our sound check went off without a hitch and JM was testing the limits of his vocal range.Come showtime the band had a meeting to go over the set list and see if anything should be changed to ease the strain on his vocal chords… We added Heaven Coming Down and took out a Lullaby. Halfway into the set I was pretty stoked… Martin was hoping holding up well and the band was playing shit hot. The audience reaction was very very surprising, not that I didnt expect any less from Moncton but it was over-the-top!Post show we all wound up on the bus, I got to catch up with an old record company friend, and we rolled out of there at 3AM. We are now 1/2 hour outside of Quebec City for a day off until we leave for London Ontario tomorrow at 3AM once again. Check back with you all after the London show…Follow me on Twitter here: @burrowsdrumsL.A.M.F.JB Monday, November 24We arrived in Quebec City on Saturday at around 12 noon. It was absolutely freezing but beautiful outside. JM flew himself from Moncton to Toronto for his day off as he has some personal business to take care of, personal but very exciting! Stuart and I are sharing a dayroom so we can shower and get some emails, and interviews done before our 9 PM bus call. I spent the day outside of the old city and was touring around quite a bit. I never like hanging around the hotel rooms too long, its pretty boring and when youre fortunate to go to as many cities as we do want to take it all in, right?Later that day Stuart, Linda our Merch lady and I set off for dinner. We hit up this place called 495 where every item on the menu is $4.95… Not that were cheap, but we heard that the food was exceptional and it was! I like going for dinner with Stuart, hes always keen on trying new things especially in the beer and wine selections - we enjoyed a few different local IPAs and another from Montreal...9 PM rolled around and the bus was ready to leave for an overnight drive to London Ontario. It was nice to hang out with the technical crew at such an early hour in the evening as opposed to post showtime at 1 AM… These guys are great - like I said before quite young, but veterans of the business. Everybody hit the bunks by around midnight and all was running smoothly… Until the bus pulled over, then crept forward, and pulled over again, then crept forward, and eventually coming to a stop…we blew out our radiator! Of all places to blow out a radiator I could think of no better place than Cornwall, Ontario. Nothing against Cornwall, but its quite a distance from there to our destination of London Ontario. Turns out the situation could have been much worse and we wouldve had to offload all the gear and luggage, etc. but as things go we were able to drive the bus at minimum speed, 75 to 80 km an hour. By the time we got to London it was almost time to do press at radio, so we had to change and clean up quick on the bus, which is never much fun.We met Jeff Martin at FM96 just in time for the first interview… He was driven by our wine manager and good friend Joel. JM, who is an absolute sweetheart by nature is often a grumpy bear before 2 PM and really wasnt in the mood to sing…lol but in true Martin form he pulled it off in pro form. Next we were off to FreeFM just up the road. This was a great set up, with pizza, wings, and some contest winners to boot…it was a half an hour to 45 minute special on the band featuring all tracks and new cuts off the album including the 8+ minute title track! Truly a killer radio event, which we were most appreciative of.We headed back to the London Concert Theatre in time for Sound check and the VIP party. That went off without a hitch and the fans here seem pretty excited for the show tonight. I headed back onto the bus for a much needed nap after our on again off again sleep from Cornwall to here. Come show time everyone was rested, primed, and pumped to blow some minds… I hope Im not sounding arrogant, but the band is really getting in great shape and are pulling off some musical theatrics like we havent done in many many years.Wow! What a show… This is the London Ontario I remember when we first broke in 1991. London audiences have always been fans from other cities coming into London and I have always proved to be rowdy and boisterous. Thank you so much! Back on the bus to catch up with some old friends once again and enjoy some fine wine brought in by our Toronto Maple Leafs fan… Boo!!! But thanks for the wine… Ill catch up with you all on our next day off after the Hamilton show. Until then be well be safe and enjoy your day! BALCO founder Victor Conte once said that when you become a doper you become a liar. Jujhar Khaira Oilers Jersey . In news that is as shocking as an Arian Foster soft tissue injury, it was revealed this week that New York Yankee Alex Rodriguez has been lying about his ties to Biogenesis and using PEDs. Writing for the Miami Herald, Jay Weaver is reporting that Rodriguez has admitted under oath to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) that he used banned substances purchased from Biogenesis between 2010 and 2012. “Yes, he bought performance-enhancing drugs from Biogenesis of America, paying roughly $12,000 a month over about two years to fake doctor Anthony Bosch,” wrote Weaver. “Yes, the Biogenesis owner gave him pre-filled syringes for hormone injections into his stomach, and even drew blood from him in the men’s room of a South Beach nightclub. And yes, Rodriguez’s cousin, Yuri Sucart, was his steroid go-fer.” Rodriguez provided this information in the context of federal drug distribution charges facing his cousin Yuri Sucart. The DEA wanted evidence against Sucart and went to Rodriguez to get it. Ironically, it’s also been reported that Rodriguez paid Sucart nearly $1 million to keep quiet about his PED use. I’m guessing they aren’t that close anymore. In exchange for Rodriguez’s testimony against Sucart, the DEA granted the embattled Yankee immunity. Furious Rodriguez Vehemently Denied PED Use Just a couple of months before admitting to the DEA that he indeed cheated, an enraged Rodriguez went on Mike Francesa’s radio show on WFAN and denied taking PEDs. Francesa: Were you guilty of any of these charges? Rodriguez: No and I shouldnt serve one inning. Francesa: Did you do anything wrong? Rodriguez: No. Francesa: Did you do any PEDs? Rodriguez: No. Francesa: Did you obstruct jus... anybody, any witnesses? Did you do anything that they accused you of doing? Rodriguez: No. Francesa: Nothing? Rodriguez: Nothing. Francesa: So youre guilty in your mind of nothing? Rodriguez: I feel like I should be there opening day. Perjury is a Funny Thing Knowingly lying under oath is called perjury and it’s a crime. It’s a very serious charge and can include prison time. Just ask Marion Jones, who spent six months in jail for lying under oath. So Rodriguez could declare publicly all he wanted that he didn’t do PEDs. However, when the DEA came calling and directed him to tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth, he had a strong incentive to be truthful. That’s why this summer I wrote that Rodriguez wasn’t out of the woods, and that the criminal charges against his cousin Sucart could ultimately end up exposing Rodriguez. Yankees: Can They Void A-Rod’s Contract? The Yankees owe Rodriguez $61 million over the next three years. That’s a lot for a player that turns 40 next June. When Rodriguez was suspended for 211 games by MLB for is use of PEDs, the Yankees certainly didn’t want anything to do with him. However, more recently, they seemed resigned to his return. But what happens now? Could the Yankees void Rodriguez’s contract and cut him? That would be very tough. There are simply too many hurdles to overcome. Of course, it doesn’t mean the Yankees can’t try. If they do, here are a few things they could rely on. Breach of Contract The team could allege breach of contract. The Yankees would look to Paragraph 7(b)(1) of his contract, which provides that a team can terminate a contract if a player fails, refuses or neglects to conform his personal conduct to the standards of good citizenship and good sportsmanship or to keep himself in first-class physical condition or to obey the clubs training rules. As well, Paragraph 7(b)(3) allows for termination if a player fails, refuses or neglects to render his services hereunder or in any manner materially breach this contract. Relying on these sections, the Yankees would argue that by doping, Rodriguez failed to “obey the clubs training rule”. He also lied repeatedly about doing PEDs, and threw his team, union and the Commissioner under the bus not to mention obstructing MLB’s investigation. None of that is terribly polite and constitutes a breach of his player contract. While not unreasonable, these arguments very likely wouldn’t be successful. Punishments for PED use are handled by the collectively bargained drug policy. That means that both baseball and the Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA) agreed the policy would govern punishments related to PEDs. Thats why the drug policy is there in the first place. If the sides had agreed to tougher sanctions for PED use and put them in the drug policy, then those tougher sanctions would govern. As well, courts really dont like it when a business has a specific policy in place dealing with a specific offence, and that business elects to ignore that specific policy and does its own thing. A-Rod Misrepresented Himself The Yankees could claim that Rodriguez misrepresented himself when he signed his contract. When Rodriguez signed his 10-year/$275 million contract in 2008, the Yankees would say they weren’t getting the player they thought they were getting. Rodriguez wasn’t being truthful about the nature of his abilities and how he achieved such a high level of success. The Yankees could argue that had they known Rodriguez was cheating they would not have signed him. Once again, though, the drug policy, is in place to deal with PED use, so this argument would be a real uphill battle for Yankees. PED Injuries The Yankees could also allege that Rodriguez’s injuries (including his recent hip injury) are the result of his PED use. Good luck showing a direct link. This argument has little to no chance. MLBPA Would Fight – And Probably Win The MLBPA has a long history of being a strong advocate for its players and vigorously fighting punishments imposed on players. The MLBPA is widely considered as the strongest union in sports and one of the strongest unions on the planet. As a result, players have enjoyed strong success at arbitration when appealing voided contracts. Here are some MLBPA wins: 1) In 1987, the San Diego Padres voided LaMarr Hoyt’s contract after he was jailed following multiple drug charges, including intent to distribute cocaine and attempting to smuggle drugs from Mexico into the U.S. This would seem to be specifically the type of conduct that would justify voiding a contract – right? Wrong. The Players Association filed a grievance and won. 2) In 2004, the Colorado Rockies tried to cut Denny Neagle after he was charged with soliciting a prostitute. The MLBPA stepped in, and ultimately the parties agreed to a payout of $16 million on his $19.5 million contract. 3) In 2005, the Baltimore Orioles voided Sidney Ponson’s contract for driving while intoxicated (as well as some other stuff). The MLBPA grieved, and the sides ended up settling. Ponson got a sizable chunk of his $11.2 million salary. There was a case where an arbitrator upheld the voiding of a contract. In 2008, Shawn Chacon refused to leave the team dining room to speak with GM Ed Wade in his office. This confrontation ended with Chacon grabbing Wade by the neck and throwing him to the ground. Each time Wade tried to get up, Chacon knocked him back to the ground. Chacon’s contract was terminated with cause. The move was appealed by the MLBPA, but the appeal was unsuccessful. So, short of strangling your employer, it can be tough to successfully terminate a contract (Latrell Sprewell got 68 games for choking NBA coach P. J. Carlesimo). Rodriguez Has Already Been Punished MLB already suspended Rodriguez for his PED use, links to Biogenesis and obstructing its investigation. As a result, MLB and the Yankees can’t punish him again for the same offences. Unless something new and dramatic comes to light, the discipline ship has sailed on the HMS A-Rod. Yankees Buyout If the Yankees want Rodriguez gone, the team would need to buy him out. Realistically, that’s their most viable option. Kyle Brodziak Oilers Jersey . Johnson even took in the Montreal Canadiens Game 5 win over the New York Rangers at the Bell Centre Tuesday night. If the Vancouver Canucks needed something to watch on the trip to Phoenix, "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" may have been a good choice. The Canucks will need to quickly forget about their previous effort when they visit the Coyotes on Thursday night hoping to avoid a third straight setback. Vancouver has lost seven of its last eight games, dropping a 1-0 decision at Los Angeles on Monday to begin a three-game road trip before getting run out of the building in Anaheim on Wednesday night. The Canucks yielded six power-play goals in a 9-1 loss, with both of their goaltenders struggling. Eddie Lack got the start and yielded three goals on 13 shots in just under 24 minutes of work. He was replaced by Joacim Eriksson, who made his NHL debut and was lit up for six goals on 31 shots. However, five of the six tallies Eriksson yielded came with the Canucks shorthanded even with Vancouver coming in as the top-ranked penalty killing team in the league. "Their power play kind of put the game away for them and the game kind of got away from us from there," said Vancouver defenseman Dan Hamhuis. Already down 6-0, Zack Kassian got the Canucks on the board with a power-play tally with two seconds to go in the second period. Vancouver coach John Tortorella didnt even want to try and explain the loss afterwards. "It does me no good. It does the players no good to discuss anything what happened here. Thee biggest thing for us is we need to get out of here and get ready for our next game," said Tortorella. Connor McDavid Oilers Jersey. The Canucks are likely to go back to Lack tonight and he has never before faced Phoenix. The Coyotes are in the midst of their own struggles, having lost six of their past seven games while going 3-8-4 in the last 15. They lost their fourth game in a row on Tuesday night with a 2-1 setback to the hosting St. Louis Blues. Defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson scored in his second straight game and Mike Smith made 16 saves. Despite the loss, the Coyotes managed to stay in the game after getting outscored 14-5 in the first three contests of this four-game slide. "This was much better because we gave ourselves a chance to win," said Phoenix head coach Dave Tippett. "We had a lot of chances to score in the third. We took some steps in fixing our problems here tonight." Tippett hopes that also is the case with Smith, who is winless since Dec. 21 and has lost seven straight decisions. He is 4-3-1 with a 2.37 goals against average in nine career starts versus the Canucks. Starting tonight, Phoenix plays its next three games at home, where it has a winning record at 12-7-3. The Coyotes and Canucks have split two meetings this season, with each team notching a post-regulation victory at home. Vancouver has won three of the last four encounters overall and four of its last six in Phoenix. ' ' '

John Albert Elway, 24, was booked into jail early Saturday morning after an incident near a college campus in downtown Denver, according to jail records.DENVER -- Troy Tulowitzki showed why he is an All-Star and the NL captain for the Home Run Derby next week. More importantly, he is trying to show his young teammates the Colorado are still post-season contenders. He hopes winning a series at home was a fresh start. Tulowitzki hit two of Colorados five home runs, and the Rockies beat the San Diego Padres 6-3 on Wednesday. Drew Stubbs, Charlie Blackmon and Wilin Rosario also went deep for the Rockies, who won a home series for the first time in nearly two months. "Im careful about saying when wins are must-wins or what games are must-wins, but all things considered we needed to win that series," manager Walt Weiss said. Colorado last won a home series taking two of three from San Diego in May. The Rockies managed to split a four-game set with Atlanta in June but lost five other series at Coors Field. They were swept twice and in the process went from second in the NL West to last before taking two straight from the Padres. "A series win is important, especially against a division opponent," Tulowitzki said. Tulowitzki has expressed frustration with Colorados extended slump but hasnt given up on the season. He pointed out the Rockies used big turnarounds after the All-Star break to reach the World Series in 2007 and the playoffs again two years later. "Thats something Im trying to preach to these guys. Anything can happen," Tulowitzki said. "Even though it doesnt look like were in it keep coming to work every single day and hopefully it transfers over. Its been a rough first half but second halves here, those playoff-run years have been pretty good." They took a step with back-to-back homers off reliever Joaquin Benoit (3-1) in the eighth. Blackmon started the rally with a single and Stubbs followed with his ninth homer of the season and fifth in his last five games. Tulowitzki then hit an 0-1 fastball into the left field seats for his 20th home run of the year. It was Tulowitzkis second multihomer game this season and 10th of his career. Benoit had not allowed a run in 19 1-3 innings before Stubbs homer. "Benoit has been outstanding," Padres manager Bud Black said. "He gott two strikeouts and a popout to centre and they hit a couple of high flies that went out. Sacha Kljestan Jersey. One by an All-Star." Boone Logan (2-1) pitched the eighth for the win and LaTroy Hawkins worked the ninth for his 17th save in 18 chances. Jake Goebbert and Seth Smith homered for San Diego. The Padres have not won a series in Denver in two years. Rockies starter Jair Jurrjens didnt experience any of the breathing trouble he suffered from during his Rockies debut last Friday but he was only able to last 4 2-3 innings. He left after the Padres tied the game 3-3 on Smiths solo home run and a wild pitch that scored Chris Denorfia. It was the only run in the game not scored on a homer. "We outhit them but they outhomered us and that was the difference," Black said. Jurrjens gave up eight hits and struck out six before leaving, but it could have been worse. With two runners on in the fifth Yasmani Grandal hit a foul home run down the right-field line, a call that was held up under review. It was the second time in the game Grandal was on the losing end of a review. "I thought it was fair. From my point of view it left the ballpark fair but it was so high that by the time it came down it just went straight out," Grandal said. "It got into the wind stream and blew the other way." Colorados All-Stars got things started in the first off starter Eric Stults. Blackmon hit his fourth leadoff home run of the game and second homer in as many days into the Rockies bullpen. One out later Tulowitzki hit a line drive into the bleachers in left to give Colorado a 2-0 lead. "You can only keep a talent like Tulo down for so long," Weiss said. NOTES: Colorado has hit five homers in a game three times this season. The last time was May 10 at Cincinnati. ... Rockies OF Carlos Gonzalez (left index finger tumour) is set to rejoin the team for this weekends series against Minnesota. ... Padres INF Everth Cabrera (left hamstring strain) will meet the team in L.A. on Friday for a series against the Dodgers. ... BIRMINGHAM, Ala. Air Force 1 Sage Low Baratas . -- Kenny Perrys driver is sailing long and true again, just like the one he used to win two major championships last year. Perry shot a 3-under 69 on Saturday at Shoal Creek to take a one-stroke lead over John Inman after the third round of the Regions Tradition. He is seeking his third Champions Tour major title after winning the Senior Players Championship and U.S. Senior Open in consecutive tour starts last year. Perry switched drivers after his first-round 72. The one he used to win both majors last year was destroyed on a flight from New York to Seattle for the Boeing Classic last August when the airline "killed it." "Ive struggled ever since," Perry said. "I did win the AT&T at the end of last year to hang on and win the Charles Schwab Cup, but I didnt really play great and I havent played very well this year either. "Ive been fighting driver woes so hopefully this is a turn in the right direction and this drivers going to solve my problems." Perry had a 7-under 209 total. He had four birdies and bogeyed No. 16, savoring the warm, sunny weather after two rounds in cooler temperatures and playing "very consistent, very solid golf." Inman, a two-time PGA Tour winner who coached at the University of North Carolina, shot a 66 after two even-par rounds. He had seven birdies before his first slip-up, a bogey on No. 16. "I just hit a lot of solid shots," Inman said. "I didnt drive the ball as well as I would have liked, but when I drove it in the rough, I just hit some miraculous shots." His big putt was some 20 feet on No. 7. Steve Elkington, second-round leader Mark Calcavecchia, Jay Haas, John Cook, Jeff Maggert, Olin Browne and Tom Pernice Jr. were 4 under. Perrys best finish on the tour this season was a fifth-place tie at the Toshiba Classic. The 54-hole leader has won only one of the last seven majors. He made nearly matching 12-15-foot uphill putts on Nos. 12 and 13 to take a two-shot lead. His only bogey on 16 came when his bunker shot went long and he missed the putt, but he bounced back with an 8-footer for par on the next hole. A light rain had been replaced by sunshine by the time the leaders teed off, but for the third straight day they were allowed to lift, clean and place their golf balls. "Still the scores are high," Perry said. "Whenever you let a pro get his hands on it, the scores really tend to drop pretty low but this golf course is really beating us up with the swirling winds. We had South winds today. We played northwest winds the first two rounds." Calcavecchia began the round with a one-stroke lead over Haas, but both struggled. Calcavecchia had a double bogey on No. 11 on his way to a 74. He lost a six-stroke Saturday lead in the 2011 Regions Tradition, largely thanks to a pair of double bogeys on 12. "Two wrong clubs and a chunk wedge in the water on 11, thats two bogeys and a double," Calcavecchia said. "I actually hung in there pretty good for that." He said nagging rib problems plagued him for the third straight day, this time starting on the second hole. Haas shot a 73 to snap the tours longest streak of par or better at 23 rounds. He had three straight bogeys starting on the second hole and didnt have a birdie until No. 10. The conditionally exempt Inmans best finish in his first three tournaments of the year was a tie for 15th at the Allianz Championship in February. He played in 14 events in 2013, mostly through the career victory category thanks to his PGA Tour wins, and didnt finish better than ninth. Hes the younger brother of former PGA Tour and Champions Tour winner Joe Inman. Only three sets of brothers have won on the Champions Tour -- Bobby and Lanny Wadkins, Bart and Brad Bryant and Dave and Mike Hill. The siblings both had successful Saturdays. Joe Inman coached Georgia State into its first NCAA championship since 2007 and his little brother followed with a big round. "It feels good to get in because Ive only played three events this year and I just need to play," Inman said. Defending champion David Frost was 2 under after a 71r. Tom Watson, the Tradition winner in 2011 and 2012, was even after a 72. Fred Couples shot a 73 and was 8 over. Nike Air More Uptempo España .C. -- The Steve Smith era in Carolina is over. Nike React Element 55 Baratas . Coach Randy Carlyle didnt know the severity of Bozaks injury. CLEVELAND -- Indians centre fielder and leadoff hitter Michael Bourn has returned to the lineup after missing four games because of an injured left hamstring. Dexter Lawrence Jersey . Bourn left Saturdays game when he felt the leg tighten up after beating out a bunt against the Chicago White Sox. He didnt play Sunday and missed the first three games against Minnesota. Bourn had surgery on the hamstring in October, but strained it in spring training and began the season on the disabled list. Hes batting .266 with four RBIs and two stolen bases. The Indians begin a trip to Tampa Bay and Toronto on Friday. With games on artificial turf, its unlikely that Bourn will play every day. Nyjer Morgan, who was recalled from Triple-A Columbus when Bourn was injured, will probably stay with the team. Morgan replaced Bourn the last three games. Bourn had surgery on the hamstring in October, but strained it in spring training and began the season on the disabled list. KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Chris Tillman paid no attention to the Baltimore bullpen as it started to stir in the ninth inning. After all, he had made it this far before. There was no way he was leaving the game now. So after a leadoff single to start the inning, Tillman bore down against the Kansas City Royals. The young right-hander induced three straight groundouts to end the game, wrapping up a 4-0 victory for the Orioles and giving Tillman his first career shutout. "Ill take more of them," he said, "but thats not my goal." Maybe not. But it sure is nice. Tillman came within two outs of a nine-inning complete game earlier this season, and he was incensed when he was pulled from an eventual 3-1 win over Detroit. He hadnt been any happier of late, either, after scuffling through his last five outings. But behind a dastardly combination of curveballs, changeups and fastballs, Tillman (4-2) kept the offensively inept Royals off balance. He scattered five hits and a walk, his dominant outing coming one night after Wei-Yin Chen and four relievers combined to beat Kansas City 2-1. Chris Davis homered and Steve Clevenger also drove in a run for the Orioles. "This is Tillmans night," the Royals Billy Butler said. "Youve got to give him credit. He did his job today. He was locating, throwing all of his pitches. He did a heck of a job." Jeremy Guthrie (2-3) bounced back from a lousy start to last eight innings against his former team. The Royals starter allowed four runs, eight hits and a walk while striking out two. While falling to 0-3 with four no-decisions in his last seven starts, Guthrie at least was able to save a bullpen that had been chewed up in that close loss the previous night. "He threw the ball well. He really did," Royals manager Ned Yost said. As for that offence, which has managed one run in the last two games? "Offences heat up, cool off," Yost said. "Right now we dont have anybody where I can sit back and say this boy is really swinging thhe bat well right now. Carl Banks Jersey. " The game was played in a brisk 2 hours, 22 minutes, mostly because the starters were so effective. Tillman retired 13 of 14 batters after giving up a double to Norichika Aoki to start the game, and Guthrie only allowed a single by J.J. Hardy over the first three innings. Baltimore finally got to Guthrie in the fourth, and it was partly his own doing. Manny Machado led off by bunting back toward Guthrie, and he slipped while trying to field the ball. His hurried throw to first was wide of the bag for an error, and Machado trotted over to second base. Moments later, he headed for third when Guthrie threw a wild pitch. Davis walked to put runners on the corners for Cruz, whose single drove in the games first run. Clevenger then grounded into a fielders choice to give the Orioles a 2-0 lead. It remained that way until the sixth, when consecutive singles again put runners on the corners. Cruz then lofted a fly ball deep enough to centre to bring home Adam Jones. Davis added his third homer of the season with two outs in the eighth. By that point, the only drama was whether Tillman would finish the game. The Orioles had two relievers up in the bullpen in the ninth, and the Royals got the leadoff man on base. But Tillman calmly got the next three batters to ground out to end the game. "We talked to him between innings, like we always do. It was a lot of effort but there was no real stressful innings for him," Orioles manager Buck Showalter said. "We had guys up and there was a point he was coming out of the game, but he was not going to be denied." NOTES: The Orioles recalled RHP Brad Brach from Triple-A Norfolk and designated RHP Evan Meek for assignment. ... The Royals selected the contract of RHP Casey Coleman from Triple-A Omaha and designated OF Justin Maxwell for assignment. Coleman retired the side in the ninth. ... Baltimore RHP Bud Norris is scheduled to start Saturday. LHP Danny Duffy will start for Kansas City. ' ' '

Were done with the "first season" and 14 teams clear their lockers out today and hit the golf course with eight more to follow in the next two weeks after the first round of the playoffs. Ray Lewis Youth Jersey . Im very excited about the playoffs, particularly in the Western Conference with amazing match-ups, as well as the wonderful local story in the Toronto Raptors. It should be a blast. Here are my predictions, but based upon my lousy prognostications during the NCAA Tournament, you might be better off going the other way on some of mine - particularly with the Raptors, who I hope and pray are able to win an incredibly difficult match-up. EASTERN CONFERENCE: 1. Indiana Pacers vs. 8. Atlanta Hawks: Though theyre struggling, their superior size and consistent defensive effort, as well as experience, will carry the Pacers through in an ugly series. Pacers in five. 2. Miami Heat vs. 7. Charlotte Bobcats: Al Jefferson will be an absolute load for the weak Heat interior defense and the Bobcats are playing with great confidence and togetherness. At the end of the day, though, if the Heat Big Three are healthy and right, theyll find a way as they go along to get into the next playoff gear and slowly, yet effectively, wear down the younger Bobcats. Heat in six. 3. Toronto Raptors vs. 6. Brooklyn Nets: I want to be SO wrong on this Pick. I have confidence that the Raptors can not only compete with the Nets in each and every game of this series. but beat them four times, yet my belief without any sort of emotion is that the Nets superior depth, experience and ability to get this done in the playoff-style five-on-five game will be a significant challenge for the Raps. The Raptors will have to earn every whistle against a team filled with personalities like KG, Paul Pierce, coach Jason Kidd, Deron Williams and Joe Johnson who can be squeaky wheels demanding the grease and get their way often to get over the hump. The Raptors have to outplay, outwork, out hustle, out execute, out defend, out rebound and outcoach them to win this series. Can it be done? Sure, absolutely, but that has to be the mindset. Be sharper, be better, be hungrier. The Nets wanted this matchup because they respect the Raps a whole lot less than they do the Bulls. Why is that? The Bulls compete like crazy on each and every possession and there is no backing down. The Raptors must have the same level of effort and passion throughout that the team the Nets didnt want to face brings and that has to be habit. Ive seen the Raptors do this enough times to know that theyre more than capable of doing it and now its time to make that commitment and ultimate sacrifice that it takes to beat a very deep, talented and experienced opponent. Can they sustain the level of effort its going to take to win it, as well as keep their heads and play that much harder and better when calls dont work out in their favor? Thats a major challenge and Im excited to see them face these obstacles and perform on the bigger stage to succeed. Nets in seven. 4. Chicago Bulls vs. 5. Washington Wizards: Bulls in 7. The grind-it-out Bulls versus the up-and-down, shoot-the-three Wizards. The Wizards bigs in Marcin Gortat and a healthy Nene are playing well, which is huge. John Wall is a load to deal with and they can light it up on the perimeter and veteran depth has been improved with Drew Gooden, Al Harrington and Andre Miller. They can take this series if they dig in and play with increased toughness. I still like the Bulls, they set the tone and make you play their style and slow the pace. The level of physical play and the type of whistle could well determine the winner here. The slow and ugly Bulls and the quick and offensive Wizards. The Bulls by a nose in what should be a fun series. Bulls in seven. WESTERN CONFERENCE: 1. San Antonio Spurs vs. 8. Dallas Mavericks: Theres just too much depth and outstanding offensive ball movement. in what should be a fast paced and entertaining series. I like the Spurs depth here. Monta Ellis will be a tough cover for the Spurs, but their team approach will help. Theyll keep fresh defenders on Dirk and defend the pick-and-pop game well enough to survive. Spurs in six. 2. Oklahoma City Thunder vs. 7. Memphis Grizzlies: This will be a great, physical series. Z-Bo and Gasol will be a load to deal with for the Thunder. The Grizzlies have a knack for playing on a high level in these type of games. Tony Allen and Tyshaun Prince are good perimeter defenders and will be tested here. Kevin Durant has had an MVP-calibre season and I love his big shot-making ability. The Thunder are getting healthier and the brilliant home fans in OKC will make a huge difference. The Pace of play will be a factor and I like the Thunders flexibility to play and win multiple ways. Thunder in seven. 3. Los Angeles Clippers vs. 6. Golden State Warriors: Andrew Boguts condition is a concern for the Warriors, yet the fact that they can play a quicker and smaller pace can be a challenge for the bigger Clippers. The Splash Brothers (Curry and Thompson) are a dynamic backcourt and can win a few games on their own and might have to. The concerns with the late game reliability of DeAndre Jordans free throw shooting will be a neat story to watch and see how Doc Rivers handles this. I look at Jamal Crawford as the X-Factor for the Clips - hes the top-notch offensive answer to the high octane Warrior attack. I just find the Clippers more consistent and better in many respects with their approach so Ill go with them here. Clippers in six. 4. Houston Rockets vs. 5. Portland Trail Blazers: My head tells me the Rockets and yet I want to give my heart a legit say here, as well. I just like the Blazers and the energy they play with. I admire their resiliency and they share the ball exceptionally well. LaMarcus Aldridge is a gifted post player who attracts the double team and the Blazers three-point shooting is so reliant on playing in/out of the post. James Harden is the guy in the series who is the toughest to stop and Chandler Parsons is a major improving talent and they play beautifully off of Dwight Howard. Im curious to see how young point guard Damian Lillard handles himself under the pressure of the playoffs, as well as if Patrick Beverly is ready to go for the Rockets. I look at momentum and emotion being huge factors, as well as streaky play and if the Blazers get hot from three-ball land, they can pull the upset. Portland is one of my favorite basketball towns so what the heck? Blazers. Blazers in seven. Ray Lewis Ravens Jersey . The former Toronto FC designated player played three of his 15 professional seasons with the team. Justin Tucker Jersey . The 30-year-old escaped unhurt from Zaventem Airport on March 22 and said he was too traumatised to travel to the Democratic Republic of Congo for two African Nations Cup qualifiers. He missed the home and away legs against Angola but team-mate Cedric Bakambu, who plays for Spanish club Villarreal, was booked on the same plane and arrived in Kinshasa the next day after taking an alternative flight. Congolese Football Federation (CFF) president Constant Omari, who is also a FIFA executive committee member, told a French radio station that Mbokani faces a possible sanction because he did not arrive for the games. But Mbokani told Sky Sports News HQ: There wasnt an agreement with me and Congo like there was with me and Norwich. Norwich knew where I was coming from and with Congo it was a misunderstanding.I was caught up in current events which led to this current situation and I think it might be the best time to stop playing international football, thats my stance on it.In normal circumstances of course I want to play for them but in exceptional circumstances I was disappointed they couldnt see where I was coming from. Immediately after, I called the vice-president Theo Binamungu and he promised to call me but, since that day, no one called me, not even a message of support and encouragement from what happened to me.I stayed in Brussels with my family, which I almost lost in the attacks. I asked my team to give me a few days of rest; time for me to recover from the trauma. Someone from the Congolese tried to make me travel to Kinshasa. But CFF president Omari told Sky Sports News HQ: He hasnt been in touch directly with the CFF to say hes quitting international football. Ive only read the reports in the press like everyone else. Its not for Mbokani to quit international football. You cant just get up in the morning and decide youre not playing for your country anymore. Its up to the national selectors if they want to pick him.No door has been closed but if he wants to play international football again then hed have to apologise and explain his actions. Mbokani has shown disrespect for the national side over the situation.Mbokani shouldnt have been caught up in the terror attacks since the ticket the FA had bought for him was to fly 24 hours before. But he decided to change the ticket, without explaining why. If he had respected the ticket the national team had sent, he would have arrived. The national coordinator did call back, Mbokani picked up, heard the voice, then hung up and hasnt been in touch again since. "I was able to hit some really nice shots and then was able to roll two or three really good putts in and it was nice to be able to finish birdie, birdie on this difficult finishing stretch," Garcia said.KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Seahawks coach Pete Carroll knew that Kansas City had not allowed a rushing touchdown all season, so he opted to throw for the end zone on fourth-and-goal at the 2-yard line.It was the first of three fourth downs that the Seahawks failed to convert.By the time Russell Wilson threw incomplete in the final minutes Sunday — the last of those failed fourth-down attempts — the Chiefs had preserved a tense 24-20 victory and moved into a tie with the Denver Broncos for first place in the AFC West.We didnt capitalize on our opportunities, Carroll said. We had plenty of chances.Wilson threw for 178 yards and two touchdowns, and Marshawn Lynch had 124 yards rushing for Seattle (6-4). But the star running back, fresh off a four-touchdown game, was stuffed twice by the Kansas City defence with the outcome hanging in the balance. The Seahawks last-chance drive ended when Wilson threw incomplete on fourth-and-18 at their 20-yard line with 1:13 left in the game. Kansas City simply ran out the clock. It was a heartbreaking loss, Wilson said. We thought we could have or should have won it but they played a great game and we played a great game. Two great NFL teams going after it, and in a tough environment. For us, were just looking for the next opportunity. The first of Seattles fourth-down miscues came with about 6 minutes to go. Lynch was stuffed after a two-yard gain on third down, and Carroll elected to gamble at the Chiefs 2. Wilson rolled out and overthrew Doug Baldwin in the corner of the end zone.I was interfered. It was obvious, Baldwin said.Seattle held to get the ball back, and appeared to get a first down with a completion at the Chiefs 35. But coach Andy Reid challenged the spot and replays showed that wide receiver Jermaine Kearse was a full yard short. Again going for it on fourth down, Lynch was stuffed for no gain, giving the Chiefs the ball back with less than 4 minutes to go.By the time the Seahawks got the ball back one last time, they were pinned so deep in their own territory and had such little time left that it hardly mattered.Jamaal Charles ran for 159 yards and two touchdowns, and Knile Davis also ran for a score, as the Chiefs (7-3) won their fifth straight. Theyve also won seven of their last eight. Anthony Munoz Bengals Jersey. On both sides of the ball we can keep getting better, Reid said. We certainly havent hit where we can be, and well keep working on that, but that guys did play well today. It made sense the two playoff contenders would wage an old-school, back-and-forth affair. Both are built in the same mould, featuring stout defences and strong running games.Kansas City struck first with a grinding, meandering 15-play drive that took up more than 9 minutes of the first half and ended with Charles 1-yard touchdown run. Seattle answered with its own 16-play drive, chewing up exactly 9 minutes and ending with Wilsons TD pass to Baldwin.Nothing really changed the rest of the half as the teams kept grinding away.Charles broke off two long runs on the Chiefs next series, including a 16-yard touchdown scamper. Lynch came back with a punishing series of carries to help set up a first field goal. The Chiefs made their first major mistake late in the half, when Travis Kelce fumbled near midfield. The Seahawks took over with 1:09 left, enough time to convert another field goal. After the Chiefs answered with a field goal of their own early in the third quarter, they committed their second major mistake. Charles was fighting for extra yardage again near midfield when he was stripped of the ball and the Seahawks recovered.Five plays later, Wilson hit tight end Tony Moeaki — who spent most of his first four injury-plagued seasons with Kansas City — with a short touchdown toss for a 20-17 lead.Once again turning to Charles, the Chiefs marched the other way to answer. The elusive running back put a nifty juke on Earl Thomas and scampered 47 yards before getting pushed out of bounds. Gassed, Charles watched as Davis capped the drive to give the Chiefs a 24-20 lead. Then he watched his defence make it stick.Notes: Seahawks WR Ricardo Lockette was ejected in the second half for throwing a right hook at Chiefs CB Kurt Coleman. ... Keith Millen, the assistant manager, will take temporary charge of the team for the match at Arsenal on Saturday. Speaking on Friday, Millen revealed his shock at Pulis departure. "We are all shocked from the players to the staff. We knew the frustrations of the club that we hadnt brought in as many players as we wanted but as far as training is concerned we had no inkling this might happen," Millen said. British media reported that Pulis grew frustrated at the clubs lack of transfer activity this off-season, and had a deteriorating relationship with Palace co-chairman Steve Parish. They talked on Thursday after practice. Palace signed just four players, including Martin Kelly from Liverpool on Thursday, at a combined reported cost of around 2.5 million pounds ($4.2 million). The others were Fraizer Campbell from Cardiff City, and the free transfers of Brede Hangeland from Fulham, and Chris Kettings from Blackpool. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, the longest serving manager in the league, was as stunned as the rest of English football. "I was at a managers meeting on Monday with Tony Pulis, and nothing indicated that he would not be here (on Saturday) afternoon," Wenger said on Friday. "It was a complete surprise to me, and what kind of consequence that will have on Crystal Palace, I dont know." Pulis kept Palace in Englands lucrative top division last season despite the team having just four points from 11 matches and lying in last place when he was hired in November. "He made a miracle," Wenger said. That achievement earned Pulis the award as the Premier League manager of the year, and maintained his record of never having been relegated in his 22 years as a manager. "The club would like to thank Tony for his efforts with the club during last season and wish him all the best for the future," Palace said in a brief statement on its website. Malky Mackay has become the leading candidate to replace Pulis, as he had a close relationship with club sporting director Iain Moody. They were both at Cardiff last season. Millen managed Bristol City, but Saturdays game will be his first managerial experience in the Premier League. DOnta Foreman Youth Jersey . North Dakota States reign as the three-time FCS national champion was pushed to the limit by South Dakota State on Saturday, but freshman R.Got a question on rule clarification, comments on rule enforcements or some memorable NHL stories? Kerry wants to answer your emails at cmonref@tsn.ca! Hi Kerry, I wanted to say that I love reading your take on these questions and I loved your book. I have a question regarding the Montreal vs. Minnesota game the other night. Now I am a Habs fan so this may seem like a strange question but late in the third, Minnesotas Marco Scandella was called for hooking, clearly this was a good call but my concern is this - at this point the Canadiens were already winning 6-1 and I was thinking did the referee really need to make that call? I mean, there must come a point where the whistles have to be put away, no? There is nothing wrong with a decisive win, and if the offending player had say given a blatant head shot or high stick to the face call it, but to me the hooking just added insult to injury and maybe should not have been called. So my question is - does there come a time when you just put the whistle away and just let the game finish? Thanks as always,Dan Boucher Dan: Thank you for the kudos. Your philosophical question pertains to an area of officiating called "game management." Please understand that game management is not just about making a decision to call or not call a penalty. It goes much beyond that and pertains to a refs "feel" for the game as it is being played out in the moment. The most exciting and entertaining games are when the players are allowed to compete hard and on the edge where physicality is properly balanced with player safety. No different than a pot of water on a stove, the temperature of a game can intensify and will boil over if the chef does not turn down the heat at the appropriate time. A referees ability to appropriately manage the emotional element of the game (players and coaches) is crucial in this regard. That can include situations when player frustration results during an embarrassing blow-out game. The good referee knows when to impose his authority in a way that achieves a positive result. Former NHL Director of Officiating John McCauley, my mentor and current NHL referee Wes McCauleys late father, told me that "the very best game is one played with "controlled bedlam" and the most successful referee is the one that can get the players to play on his terms with laying the hammer down!" John was talking specifically about "game management." There are some fans that take the position that a penalty is a penalty regardlesss of the score or the time of the game. DOnta Foreman Jersey. Your question Dan highlights a more realistic and practical approach that balances a referees ability to enforce the rules (maintain integrity of the game) with common sense judgment through his feel for the game and what a game requires in the moment. The wide gap in the standard of rule enforcement from days of old has narrowed in the "new, newer NHL." The expectation from the majority of the hockey community is that a violation of the rules will (should) result in a penalty called by the referee. It is often hard to understand how a puck over the glass is an automatic penalty in overtime while an obvious hold might not be called? We know there is ongoing work to be done by the Officiating Dept. in the area of coaching and holding the refs accountable to the expected standard. As these theories pertain to your specific question Dan let me say that an obvious penalty must be called at any time in the game, regardless of the score or the time! In addition to maintaining player safety, all flagrant fouls, stick infractions, dangerous hits and fouls on scoring opportunities should never be overlooked by the referees. Marco Scandella of the Minnesota Wild hooked Max Pacioretty with a potential scoring opportunity after a turnover in the neutral zone. While Pacioretty did not lose possession of the puck the referee maintained the expected standard when Scandella hooked the hands of the Montreal player as he was cutting toward the Minnesota goal. A "must call" was made in spite of the 6-1 Montreal lead with 3:40 remaining. It is also important to note that the referees worked the game right to the end with a consistent standard when Daniel Briere was assessed a penalty for holding Mikael Granlund with 1:49 remaining in the game. The infraction occurred as Granlund carried the puck up the wall in the neutral zone and was stalled from behind with a tug-hook and eventual free-hand grab by Briere that forced a loss of puck possession. The proper standard was maintained with the holding penalty called against Daniel Briere and resulted in Danny Heatleys power play goal with two seconds remaining in the game. If the referee had missed, or worse yet avoided calling the infraction committed by Briere you can bet the game temperature would have spiked through Wild frustration during the final minute and a half. The timing of the Briere infraction allowed for excellent "game management" to be demonstrated by the referee. John McCauley would be proud. ' ' '

CHARLOTTE, N. Custom Los Angeles Lakers Jerseys .C. -- Al Jefferson laughed when told he finished three stitches shy of a triple-double. "I have to call my agent because Im done with my modeling career," Jefferson said. Jefferson had seven stitches in the first half to repair a gash above his right eye, but returned to finish with 19 points and 11 rebounds, helping the Bobcats overcome an 11-point fourth-quarter deficit and defeat Washington 100-94 Monday night. The win prevented the Wizards from clinching their first playoff berth since 2008. Jeffersons put back off an offensive rebound with 3:30 left in the game helped the Bobcats take the lead for good at 93-92. Kemba Walker had a big second half, finishing with 21 points and 10 assists, and rookie Cody Zeller scored a career-high 15 points on 4-of-4 shooting and added eight rebounds for Charlotte. Walker scored nine points in the final quarter and the Bobcats erased a 16-point halftime deficit and pulled within two games of the Washington in the race for the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs Both teams have eight games left and will meet again on April 9. "We made big shots and played well defensively in the second half and really came together as a team," Walker said. "It shows our resiliency. That was a big win for us." Bradley Beal had 20 points for the Wizards, who missed 11 of their last 14 shots from the field. "It (stinks) man," Washingtons Al Harrington said of not clinching a playoff spot. "Because obviously we played a great first half. We really thought tonight was our night, but to have them come out and play the way that they played and beat us -- thats tough." Washington still would have clinched a playoff spot if the Utah Jazz had defeated New York later Monday, but the Knicks won 92-83. The Wizards (38-36) came in looking to snap the third-longest playoff drought in the NBA -- and for a while it looked like they would. The Wizards shot 59 per cent in the first half, at one point hitting 10 straight shots from the field and scoring on 14 of 15 possessions to close the first half on a 30-7 run. The Bobcats could do little right in what Jefferson called an "embarrassing" first half. But he was confident they would battle back. Jefferson walked to the scorers table at the start of the third quarter and told whoever was in earshot, "Hey, watch this comeback." "Everyone looked at me like I was crazy," Jefferson said. "At the end of the game though people were pointing at me saying, You said it. You said it." Charlottes defence was the big difference. Coach Steve Clifford also went to a pick-and-roll with Walker and Jefferson. "The Wizards did a good job of taking away the post," Clifford said. The momentum turned four minutes into the fourth quarter when Walker came up with the loose ball off a Washington turnover and fed Chris Douglas-Roberts for a fast-break layup in traffic with 7:38 left in the game. Douglas-Roberts had to adjust in midair to get his body from one side of the rim to the other to avoid defenders and get the shot to drop. Douglas-Roberts made a 3-point play and then knocked down a long-distance 3 to cut the lead to one before Jeffersons put back gave the Bobcats the lead for good. Jefferson hit a 16-footer to push the lead to three. Walker followed with a backbreaker when he scored on a driving layup to make it 97-92 after a Bobcats possession that took more than a minute off the clock. Charlotte twice came up with key offensive rebounds, allowing Walker to bring the ball back out and reset the offence and milk time off the clock. "When you give a team two to three looks one time down the floor, theyre going to make one," said Wizards forward Drew Gooden. "I would say we lost the game giving them second and third possessions offensively." Jefferson left the game briefly at the end of the first quarter to head to the locker room to get the stitches above his right eye after taking an inadvertent elbow from Trevor Booker. "I had to get a shot to numb it and I hate needles," Jefferson said. NOTES: Gary Neal returned to action for the Bobcats after missing two games with an ankle injury. He had nine points ... ARLINGTON, Texas -- Yu Darvish came oh, so close again. Calvin Ridley Womens Jersey . The Japanese ace fell one out shy of a no-hitter for the second time Friday night, giving up a ninth-inning single to David Ortiz in the Texas Rangers 8-0 victory over the Boston Red Sox. "This is the second time I experienced this, but if I keep pitching like this, someday Ill get it," Darvish said through his translator. "Someday, Ill just keep doing what Im doing and Ill probably have another record of almost a no-hitter." Rookie second baseman Rougned Odour, positioned in shallow right field, made a diving attempt at Ortizs hit but the ball was out of his reach. If the Rangers had not shifted their infield toward the right side of the diamond -- a standard practice against the pull-happy Ortiz -- it probably would have been a routine grounder to second. Darvish lost a perfect-game bid with two outs in the ninth inning last season against Houston. This time, he bent his knees and put his glove on his hips after the base hit. Texas manager Ron Washington then made a slow walk to the mound, with the 45,392 in attendance cheering and chanting "Yuuuuuu!" Darvish (3-1) struck out 12 and walked two while throwing 126 pitches. "He was on his game early," Red Sox manager John Farrell said. " That combination of being powerful and the secondary pitches and the assortment of them ends up being a night like tonight." The 20-year-old Odour, playing his second major league game, and Ortiz were also involved in the play that ended Darvishs try for a perfect game. Darvish struck out eight of the first 11 batters he faced and retired 20 in a row until Ortiz hit a high popup to right field with two outs in the seventh. Odor was also shifted into shallow right then and drifted back for the ball while right fielder Alex Rios came in before suddenly stopping. Odor lunged with his glove extended above his head but the ball dropped between them. "As soon as he hit it, I thought it was going to be a hit," Darvish said. "Obviously I was a little bit disappointed, but I was already ready to give up a hit, so it didnt really matter." An error was charged to Rios after official scorer Steve Weller looked at replays and conferred with several others because of the significance of the play. "I should have taken control of that ball," Rios said. "We were camped under the ball, so it can be called an error." Weller, in his 20th season as a scorer, told a pool reporter after the game that it was a judgment call and "I felt like the second baseman or right fielder under normal effort couldve clearly caught the ball." Asked if he had spoken to Darvish, Rios said, "I just told him that I should have caught it. Thats the only thing I said." Darvish crouched down when the ball hit the ground. Former Rangers catcher Mike Napoli then drew a walk before Grady Sizemores inning-ending flyout. Once Ortiz got his hit in the ninth, he thought he should have been credited with a hit in the seventh as well. "Guys throwing a no-hitter. We all understand that. But when it comes down to the rules in the game, thats a hit," Ortiz said. "Thats the rule that we all know, and thats the rule that the game (has had) for more than 100 years. The ball in the outfield drops in between infield and outfield, nobody touched it. ... So I guess its going to be two (hits) now." Ortiz said he would have been OK with the error "if the guys throwing a no-hitter." Darvish walked another batter in the eighth but went into the ninth looking for the first no-hitter in the majors this season. Dustin Pedroia grounded out and Shane Victorino struck out before Ortiz stepped to the plate. "He had great stuff. He was locating everything," Pedroia said. "When a guy like that with that kind of stuff is on his game, it makes it a tough night." Darvish was within one out of a perfect game during his first start of 2013 in Houston when Marwin Gonzalez singled through the pitchers legs. Darvish then lost a no-hit bid with one out in the eighth against the Astros last August. Elvis Andrus had four hits and scored three times for the Rangers. Andrus was back in his normal No. 2 spot in the batting order for the first time in six games. Washington had moved his shortstop down in the lineup after a 2-for-34 slide that dropped him to a season-low .217, but moved him back to split up the five left-handers in his lineup against Clay Buchholz (2-3). Buchholz allowed six runs and 10 hits over 4 1-3 innings. He struck out three and walked two while throwing 96 pitches. It was Darvishs 21st career game with at least 10 strikeouts, the most in the majors since his debut in 2012. Detroits Max Scherzer is next on the list with 14 in that span. Darvish was winless in his previous nine home starts, despite a 2.83 ERA in those games. He had not won at home since last Aug. 1 against Arizona. Texas went ahead to stay when Andrus had a one-out single in the first and scored on a double by Adrian Beltre. MIAMI -- Pat Riley walked into the room to begin his end-of-season availability annoyed, and armed with history. Wayne Chrebet Youth Jersey . There have been franchises that have enjoyed prolonged runs of greatness during his 45 years as a player, coach and executive in the NBA -- the Lakers, Celtics, Bulls, Spurs and his Miami Heat among them -- and Thursday Riley pointed out each shares a trait. With that, Riley was off and running on a message-sending session that lasted nearly an hour. No players were there, but they surely heard his themes: He saw his teams mental fatigue during the year, but doesnt accept it; he isnt willing to let Miami fall from the ranks of the NBA elite, and the organization will do what it can to keep LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade together. "We have a tremendous opportunity here for long-term success," Riley said. "Dont think were not going to get beat again, so just get a grip, everybody. Thats my message. Its my message to the players, also." It was one of his many messages. Riley, who gets a reported $75,000 when hired to deliver motivational speeches, worked in anecdotes on everything from sipping Johnnie Walker Blue to playing James Ingram records to how even at 69 years old he still finds himself dreaming big. He was speaking with reporters, but clearly talking to players through the cameras. "Youve got to stay together, if youve got the guts," Riley said. "You dont find the first door and run out of it if you have an opportunity. This is four years now into this era, this team. Four finals -- its only been done three other times before -- and two championships. From day one to the end, it was like a Broadway show. It sort of ran out of steam. And we need to retool. We dont need to rebuild." How to retool is the question, but the answer isnt up to Riley yet. James, Bosh and Wade all need to decide if theyre going to opt out of their contracts, a choice that was probably going to be complicated even if the Heat hadnt lost the NBA Finals to San Antonio, ending Miamis two-year reign as league champions. From those decisions, Heat free-agents-to-be -- Ray Allen, Mario Chalmers, Chris Andersen and others -- may start charting their futures. Players from other teams will listen as well. Then Riley and the Heat spring into action on July 1, just as they did four years ago when they netted James, Bosh and Wade. Other than Norris Cole, no Heat player currently is locked into a fully guaranteed deal for next season. But Riley doesnt feel the Heat need to recruit current players again. "Were prepared," Riley said. "Weve got the main-themed book all written up and its dependent on whatever the scenario were presented with on July 1. Weve got a lot of room for flexibility. Theres a tremendous amount of flexibility depending on what happens. So were ready." He offered plenty of perspective on Thursday, about how he still feels like he choked away what should have been a title for the Lakers team he coached in 1984, but how they roared back with three titles in the next four seasons. He even referenced how San Antonio got much better this season after seeing a title in 2013 get taken away by Miami in dramatic fashion. "What happened last year with San Antonio? Did they run? They faced it," Riley said. "They faced it and they came back, and we saw the result. Well find out what were made of here. Its not about options. Its not about free agency. Its not about anything. Its about what we have built over four years here." Among Rileys more impassioned defences was the one of Wade, who was widely criticized for both missing 28 games in the regular season -- mainly part of a maintenance program laid out by the team -- and for struggling in Games 4 and 5 of the NBA Finals. "For the last 10 years, this has been a Dwyane Wade-driven thing," Riley said. "Now does he have to reinvent himself a little bit? Absolutely." Riley can only hope that reinvention is in Miami, and that James and Bosh are there as well. "Im an Irish guy who believes in big dreams," Riley said. "Im optimistic. Until thats proven different, I just have a level of optimism that there isnt a better place for players to be than Miami." Chuma Edoga Youth Jersey . Both moves were announced Tuesday. The Titans had waived Matthews on Saturday when they promoted wide receiver Michael Preston from the practice squad. Trevon Wesco Jets Jersey . PETERSBURG, Fla. http://www.jetsrookiestore.com/Jets-Cj-Mosley-Jersey/ . In the opener of the World Group first-round series, world No. 18 Kei Nishikori defeated Peter Polansky of Thornhill, Ont. KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Houston Astros got a good glimpse of what could happen if Chris Carter and George Springer are hitting well at the same time. Carter connected for two home runs, Springer set a rookie club record for homers in a month and the Astros beat the Kansas City Royals 9-3 Wednesday for their fifth straight win. The Astros have been waiting for Carter to take off after he hit 29 home runs last year. "This guy led our offence in home runs and RBIs last year. He had been hot and cold, but we all know when hes hot, he can carry a ballclub because weve seen him do it," Astros manager Bo Porter said. "We definitely would love to get him going. That would be an added boost to our team," he said. Carter, who had been benched the previous three games with a .192 batting average, homered to lead off the fifth. He hit a three-run homer in sixth off reliever Louis Coleman for his fourth career multihomer game and his first this season. "He sat for three days, worked extremely hard in the cage and watched a lot of video," Porter said. "He came in today with a good game plan and understanding the things in which hes worked on the last few days." "I always say this: Its good from a coaching standpoint you put in effort with a guy and the next time he gets in the lineup you see it pay off. Thats good for the player to see the immediate results of the work which hes putting in" he said. Springer homered off Danny Duffy (2-5) in the first for his ninth home run in May. Glenn Davis held the Astros rookie record with eight home runs in September 1985. Springer also walked twice and was hit by a pitch. "Our offence is better," Carter said. "Its been coming around really good. George has six home runs in six games. Im happy for him. I think we have something going here." The Astros, with the worst record in the AL, won three times in Kansas City for their first sweep of the season. Houstons winning streak is its longest since a siix-game string that ended last June 3. Mark Gastineau Womens Jersey. The Royals have lost four in a row. "Its just a bad series, unfortunately, it happened at home," Royals designated hitter Billy Butler said. "Its a tough go right now." Carlos Corporan had three hits with a walk. He drove in a run as the Astros outscored the Royals 21-5 in the series. Jarred Cosart (4-4) gave up one earned run and four hits in five innings, but was pulled when his pitch count reached 95. "I chose a good day to go five and the offence scored nine runs," Cosart said. "I didnt have my best stuff. The offence came out scoring early. I felt pretty good out there. I had a couple of innings with high pitch counts. We have a five-game winning streak going. Weve got momentum. Were going back home to our own ballpark." Duffy allowed six runs on seven hits and five walks in four-plus innings. The first four Royals pitchers combined to walk 10, which was a season high. "He just didnt have anything going for him today," Royals manager Ned Yost said. "His fastball was down to 88-92 (mph) and we kept checking and asking if he was OK. He was fine, but he was going through a little dead arm. He was throwing hard, but it just wasnt coming out. We had to kind of ride it. We didnt have any bullpen help." Brett Hayes singled in the Kansas City fifth to snap an 0-for-27 skid to begin the season. He homered in the seventh, the Royals first home run in nine games. NOTES: Houston 2B Jose Altuve dropped Eric Hosmers popup to shallow right in the sixth inning for his first error of the season. That ended an Astros record of 88 errorless games by a second baseman. Altuve also had a single and tops the majors with 73 hits. ... Butler grounded out four times and is in a 2-for-22 funk, tumbling his average to .235 with one home run. ... Royals LF Alex Gordon batted third for the first time this season and extended his hitting streak to six games with a first-inning single. ' ' '

It has cachet. It has an air about it of international competition.London is one of probably two or three cities outside the United States that really does have all of the criteria that I would look at for having an NFL team. I certainly know that one of the reasons were here this week playing Sunday is to help encourage interest and increase the interest in the game, increase the interest in the awareness of our game. The NFL has been playing regular-season games at Wembley, the home of Englands national soccer team, since 2007. This season, there are three games, culminating on Sunday with the Cowboys (6-3) and the Jaguars (1-8).On Thursday, the NFL announced that there will be another three games next season, starting with the Miami Dolphins playing the New York Jets on Oct. 4 in the first-ever division game in England.NFL officials have said they envisage having a franchise in London one day, though no time frame has been announced and several logistical issues would need tto be resolved. Michael Porter Jersey. he Jaguars, owned by American billionaire Shad Khan, are also on the schedule for next season, and played in London last season as well. They have agreed to a four-year deal to come to London, so theyll be back in 2016.His imagination is welcomed. His business acumen is really welcome, Jones said of Khan. I know that hes a progressive thinker. Certainly his interest that he has in playing here and potentially being involved more so in the future is one that were all aware of.For the Cowboys, who have played several exhibition games overseas, this is the first time theyll be playing for real outside the United States. And against the Jaguars, Dallas will technically be the visiting team. The problem we have is that we dont want to forgo a home game, Jones said. As youre well aware, we dont play many games relative to other sports, and so thats not something that were interested in doing. But our away game, and our ability to play away, has always been a consideration, something that we would do.That doesnt mean that Jones isnt a fan of Britain, or the monarchy. One of the greatest feelings that I have is the picture of Princess Di and her young men there with Cowboy jerseys on, Jones said. Its one of my favourite of all time.___Online:AP NFL website: —www.pro32.ap.org and —www.twitter.com/AP_NFL ' ' '

Hours into his tenure as the latest Leeds manager, Neil Redfearn was watching the team lose when he heard the inevitable chant from opposition fans. Baker Mayfield Youth Jersey .Sacked in the morning, came the cry around Cardiff City Stadium, youre getting sacked in the morning. Its a playful chant serenaded to losing coaches across the length and breadth of England on most weekends, and its rarely taken on face value. On this occasion, though, there could have been an element of truth about it.And that just about sums up the sad state of Leeds United — a proud, once-mighty northern English club that is now widely regarded as a laughingstock operating on the merciless whims of an eccentric, maverick Italian owner.Massimo Cellino — with his sunglasses and slick, greying hair — breezed into Elland Road in April when his company, which already owned Italian side Cagliari, bought a controlling stake in Leeds. This was the biggest football team in England in the late 1960s and early 70s in the era of Johnny Giles and Billy Bremner, the league champion in 1992 when Eric Cantona starred up front and a Champions League semifinalist only 12 years ago.The past decade at Leeds had been scarred by financial chaos and mismanagement, though, and the club had slipped down the English league pyramid. The larger-than-life Cellino arrived as the latest saviour, saying of the fans: Theyve had to put up with 10 (expletive) years. I want to make them proud again.Problem was, he also arrived with baggage. He had been convicted in Italy of tax evasion, a ruling he is still appealing, and was known in some circles as a mangiallenatori — the Italian word for a manager eater — after making 36 coaching changes in 22 years at Cagliari.English football now understands why he earned that moniker.Brian Cloughs notorious 44-day reign at Leeds in the mid-1970s seems like a lifetime in charge compared to the rate Cellino is going through managers.A month after taking over, Cellino fired Brian McDermott, widely regarded as one of English footballs good guys. Rumors had been spreading during the takeover process, which was drawn-out because of Cellinos tax issues, that McDermott was on his way out.Bizarrely, Cellino chose to pluck the replacement for McDermott out of the English non-leagues. Dave Hockaday seemed to be out of his depth and a puppet for Cellino.Coaches are like watermelons, Cellino said at Hockadays presentation, you only know how good it is when you open it.Hockaday lasted six games of this season before he was fired, ending one of the strangest managerial reigns of recent times.Darko Milanic was the next full-time appointment and another to arrive out of the blue, from Austrian side Sturm Graz. Hired on Sept. 23, Milanic, from Slovenia, was fired after 32 days and did not win any of his six games in charge.Redfearn, who took temporary charge between the Hockaday and Cellino eras after being promoted from the academy, was hired as Cellinos fourth manager in five months on Saturday. Leeds lost to Cardiff 3-1 that afternoon to drop to sixth from bottom in the second-tier League Championship.I remember in Italy my dad sacked seven coaches in one year and one before the season had even started, Cellinos son, Edoardo, said last week. This is not a record.English football is awash with clubs owned by foreigners, some more reputable and savvy than others.Blackburn, for example, was an established Premier League team before being taken over by Indian poultry firm Venkys. They talked about signing David Beckham and Ronaldinho and returning to the heights of 1995 when the team won the English league. Instead the club was relegated within 18 months and spiraled into chaos, with four different managers in an eight-month span in the second-tier League Championship the following season.Fulham is another traditional English club whose fortunes have tumbled since it was put in the hands of an owner with apparently more money than sense. Under American businessman Shahid Kahn since July 2013, Fulham lost its Premier League status within a year and has just hired its fourth coach in 10 months.Critics of Cellino say he is acting disgracefully and is damaging the reputation of one of Englands great clubs. And, considering his conviction for fraud, they still wonder how he passed the owners and directors test used by the Premier League and Football League to assess who can and cant run a club.I think the best thing he could do is get out of the club, said Giles, a midfield great for Leeds in its glory days. Its crazy stuff.Despite his eccentricities, however, Cellino could yet be a force for good at Leeds. He at least has experience of owning a football club and turned out to be a success in his 22 years at Cagliari, establishing the Sardinian team in Serie A.It is hard for Leeds fans to trust any owner of their club after the troubled tenures of Ken Bates, the outspoken former Chelsea owner, and Bahraini-based investment bank Gulf Finance House, which preceded Cellino. But, perhaps in desperation, they appear to have warmed to the Italian, who has stood among Leeds supporters during away matches and has injected enough money and commitment into the club to suggest he is in it for the long haul. The way its going, though, he might just decide to do the coaching himself.I used to have a boat. I used to pay the captain of the boat, Cellino says. You know what my strategy was? If he doesnt do what I like to do with my boat, then I can drive my boat on my own.Redfearn has been duly warned. Jose Goncalves scored the only goal in the 31st minute as the New England Revolution downed the listless Impact 1-0 on Saturday afternoon, extending Montreals winless run to five games. The Impact (13-11-7), who were on top of the league in June with a 9-3-2 record, began the day in a playoff position in fourth place, but the race got tighter after losing a third home game in a row. They have three games remaining in the regular season, including a match Wednesday night in Los Angeles and a must-win game at home next Saturday against Philadelphia. A victory against the Revolution would have greatly strengthened the Impacts hopes of reaching the post-season in only their second year in MLS, but they came out flat. New England (12-11-9) had the lions share of scoring chances and allowed Montreal few opportunities. "I think were all a little bit shocked," said Montreal captain Davy Arnaud. "Considering how big the game was, something was missing. "We werent ourselves. We just didnt have our normal urgency going forward to get chances. We lost some duels we normally win at home. I cant put my finger on it." Montreal will play in Los Angeles without Arnaud or defender Matteo Ferrari, who each will serve one-game suspensions for picking up their fifth yellow card. Coach Marco Schallibaum and the players spoke all week of the importance of beating New England, but they werent in the game from the opening kick-off. "We werent good today," said Schallibaum, whose team has one of a possible 15 points from its last five matches. "We didnt get much penetration in the box. "It was more in the head than in the legs. Now we have to pick ourselves up and get ready for the next game." Arnaud was at the centre of a grim moment in the 19th minute when New England forward Sene Sene was wheeled off the field on a stretcher and taken to hospital with what the Revolution later said was a dislocated left ankle and broken left fibula. The less than sellout crowd of 18,917 went silent when Sene went down after going for a ball in the Montreal penalty area. His foot got caught between Arnauds legs and appeared to snap. It was pointing the wrong way as he lay on the pitch in agony. "I feel really bad about what happened," said Arnaud. "It looks like its a really bad injury. "I think it was a good tackle. Oleksandr Zinchenko Manchester City Jersey. I won the ball clean, but his foot might have got caught underneath me. You never want to see that happen. I still feel bad about it. I hope hes OK." No foul was called as Arnaud got to the ball first. "You run into situations on the field that are bigger than the game," said Revolution coach Jay Heaps. "Everyones heart went out to him. "Its devastating for both teams. But the response from our guys -- you just felt there would be a moment when our guys had a chance to make a play. We got that goal almost 10 minutes after that incident, so I was really happy with that." Juan Agudelo just missed heading in a free kick, but New England got the ball back for Diego Fagundez to slip it across the area for Goncalves to score his second of the season. The New England defence did the rest as they clogged up the middle of the field and allowed league scoring leader Marco Di Vaio and his Impact teammates few looks at goal. The win stretched the Revolutions unbeaten string to four games and kept their playoff hopes alive. "It was crucial," said Heaps. "We knew these three (points) were the most important because they were pulling away. "Now its anyones ball game here for the last two (playoff) spots. Thats all you can ask for." The Impact got some life after bringing in three substitutes early in the second half but New England still got the best chance on a Chris Tierney free kick that went off the crossbar. The Impact have a handful of players playing through minor injuries, including Di Vaio, Patrice Bernier and Justin Mapp. But Arnaud dismissed the notion that the Impact, an older than average team, is wearing down at the end of the season. He feels they just need a spark to feel young again. "You need a positive result to get you back on track," he said. "When youre so close and you feel youre almost there in the post-season and things arent going well, you just need a bounce, something to go your way. "Maybe scrape out a win you dont deserve. Something that can turn things around." Notes: Alessandro Nesta returned to Montreals lineup after missing two games with a groin injury and Hernan Bernardello was back after sitting out five contests with a sprained ankle. Sanna Nyassi moved into the starting 11 in place of Felipe Martins. Maxim Tissot replaced injured fullback Jeb Brovsky. ' ' '

TORONTO -- When Gary Bettman approached Ray Emery during the Chicago Blackhawks Stanley Cup celebration at the White House, everyone around wondered what was going to happen. Joey Bosa Youth Jersey . The Philadelphia Flyers goaltender had drawn league-wide attention just a few days earlier for skating the length of the ice to fight an unwilling combatant in Braden Holtby. Naturally, that came up. "I said: Oh, Ray. Its good to see you. Ive been thinking about you. We had a nice chat," the commissioner said. "And I said, So just hypothetically, if there was a rule that said if you cross the red line to get into a fight with the other goaltender and you get a 10-game suspension, would you have done it? He goes, What? Are you crazy?" It might not be a 10-game suspension, but NHL general managers will discuss potential changes to fighting rules Tuesday at their annual meeting following Hall of Fame induction weekend. Bettman acknowledged that incidents like George Parros being concussed after falling during a fight with Colton Orr and what Emery did sparked plenty of debate, but he made it clear its just one of many topics on the agenda. "I think the level of dialogue gets sparked by an occasional incident, and an incident of this nature when you look at everything else that is going on in the season was really a small pebble relative to a beach full of sand, which is seeing an incredibly entertaining season," Bettman said Monday. "I think sometimes an incident, as rare as it might be, tends to get focused on disproportionately." During his remarks at the Prime Time Sports Management conference in Toronto, Bettman called fighting a "thermostat" in hockey that helps cool things down when tensions run high. "When Vinny Lecavalier was in a fight with (Jarome) Iginla ... they got mad at each other," he said during his question-and-answer session. "Id rather them be punching each other than swinging sticks at each other." One of the arguments against the abolition of fighting, or even making the punishment a game misconduct or suspension, is that it would cause more high-sticks and cheap shots. Bettman did not overtly reveal his opinion one way or the other but said that feelings on both sides of the fighting debate are "really dug in." "To say youre getting rid of fighting, Im not even sure what that means because you can change the penalty and make it more severe," he said. "That doesnt mean if somebodys sufficiently motivated, theyre not going to fight. So well take the hypothetical. You get thrown out of the game if you fight. OK, I think guys will still fight if they feel the need." A 2011 poll conducted by the NHLPA and CBC found that 98 per cent of players would not support the total elimination of fighting. Bettman wants to take the pulse of GMs at Tuesdays meeting. That includes feelings about goaltenders fighting and other topics. Emery was not suspended for pummelling Holtby because there is nothing in the rule book to use as precedent. Bettman expects a "general discussion" but does not think any rule changes will come about just yet. Bettman said the current rules, which include a five-minute major for fighting and extra penalties stemming from the instigator and third-man-in rules, represent the consensus among GMs. "If somebody wants to change it, there needs to be a new consensus," he said. "Thats why the discussions ongoing. Having said that, it continues to evolve as the game does. Four years ago a shoulder hit to the head was not penalized. Now itll get you suspended. Were going to continue to look at what we can do to keep the game physical but safe as possible." Senior vice president of player safety Brendan Shanahan, whos being inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame Monday night, is expected to address the GMs and give his usual update. Hybrid icing will also be on the docket, as Bettman said the adjustment is ongoing for players and officials. While the Parros and Emery incidents stoked the fire about fightings place in the NHL, Bettman doesnt want them to overshadow other things that are going on, like the Colorado Avalanches hot start, strong television ratings and arenas being filled to 95 per cent of capacity. "We probably wouldnt even be having the fighting discussion right now if there wasnt a freak play with George Parros losing his balance and falling," Bettman said. "Like the Emery-Holtby incident, those things dont define the season were having. Theyre important, we look at them, we discuss them, but they get more attention than they probably warrant in any particular case because were constantly monitoring the game." Bettman said the NHL does fan research on a constant basis and not specifically when incidents are in the news. Hes also aware of the opinions expressed by league executives, like when Brian Burke wrote an editorial for USA Today in support of fighting. Tuesday provides a chance for "to see if anybody has an appetite for pursuing" any rule changes, Bettman said. "Ultimately if theres going to be a change, there needs to be a new consensus (among) all parties who have to make a decision," he said. "We try to do whats in the best interest of the game, and that includes our fans, that includes our clubs and that includes our players. There are lots of views on lots of subjects. This happens to be one which probably gets a disproportionate amount of attention." Another topic that has gotten a lot of attention is NHL expansion, especially considering unbalanced divisions created by realignment. Having 32 teams would even out the divisions, but Bettman said there were no formal plans to expand. "I dont envision right now going through a formal expansion process," Bettman said in an interview after speaking at the conference. "We get expressions of interest all the time. Those are informal conversations that we have, but in terms of a formal bid process, Im not focused on doing anything like that right now." The league and NHLPA have discussed reviving the World Cup of Hockey, which Bettman said hed prefer over the Olympics, but the commissioner did not provide an update on those talks. He did confirm that NHL Premiere games in Europe that happened from 2007 through 2011 will not come back at the start of the 2014-15 season. "Thats something that we and the Players Association have agreed on," Bettman said. "We think its too late, all of us. We had a meeting a month ago and we jointly reached that conclusion." Still, he was a winner for the first time in 15 months. Anderson pitched effectively into the seventh inning before a blister ended his night and the Colorado Rockies beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 8-1. "Its good. Your goal when you pitch is to win the ballgame and its been a while," he said. "Its pretty satisfying, especially my first win in the National League. Hopefully Ill get on a roll here." Carlos Gonzalez homered and Josh Rutledge had two hits and drove in four runs for Colorado, which has won consecutive games for just the second time in the last six weeks. The Rockies are 16-40 since May 20 but they cooled off the Pirates, who entered Friday 44-29 since starting the season 10-18. Not every Colorado player left Coors Field in a good mood. Third baseman Nolan Arenado was removed from the game after he failed to run hard to first on a grounder to the mound in the fourth. Pirates starter Charlie Morton bobbled the ball but was able to get Arenado, who jogged at the start before hustling to try and beat the throw. "We talk a lot about playing the game hard, playing the game right and how important that is, especially when youve been getting your (butt) kicked for a while. Its even more important. Its imperative," Rockies manager Walt Weiss said. "I just felt Nolan didnt meet that standard at that point. Nolans a great kid. Hes a great player. Thats how I saw it." Anderson (1-3) had not won since beating Houston on April 7, 2013, in his last start for Oakland. He spent four months on the disabled list and moved to the As bullpen when he returned. He was winless in three April starts for Colorado before a broken left index finger put him on the shelf for 81 games. Friday was his third start since coming back and he allowed just two hits in 6 1-3 innings before a blister began to develop on his left index finger "I noticed it in the bottom of the sixth and then I started throwing some breaking balls there in the seventh and it kind of caught," Anderson said. "Hopefully got it before thing (turns) major. It didnt break open and they drained it. I dont foresee it being a problem." He left the game with a 1-0 lead after walking Ruussell Martin for the third time. Dan Fouts Womens Jersey. "My stuff is getting better and better and my velocity is coming back," Anderson said. "... The offence showed up tremendously." Tommy Kahnle came on and got the last two outs of the seventh and the Rockies broke it open in the bottom of the inning off Morton (5-10). Ben Paulsen and Wilin Rosario led off with consecutive doubles and DJ LeMahieu singled. Ernesto Frieri relieved Morton and pinch-hitter Drew Stubbs bounced a grounder over the pulled-in infield for an RBI double. An intentional walk to Charlie Blackmon loaded the bases and Rutledge cleared them with a double to centre. "He pitched a good ballgame through six and the seventh got away from him," Pirates manager Clint Hurdle said of Morton. "Frieri came in and wasnt able to quite execute the pitches he needed to so they piled up seven on us." One out later Gonzalez hit his 10th homer of the season to make it 8-0. "It was nice to see our offence but it was even better to see the way we pitched tonight," Gonzalez said. "Anderson gives us a big shot to win this game." The Rockies nearly pulled off a triple play in the fifth after Neil Walker led off the inning with Pittsburghs first hit of the game. With runners on first and second, Jordy Mercer hit a sharp grounder to third baseman Charlie Culberson, who stepped on the bag but his throw to second pulled Rutledges foot off the base. Rutledges relay to first got Mercer, and after a 3-minute, 16-second review the call at second was confirmed. NOTES: Walker has reached base in 22 straight games. Its the longest active streak in the majors. ... Members of the Manchester United Football Club visited with Rockies players during batting practice. ...
