How to be healthy for good – pathways to personal growth.
When you think of how to be healthy Cheap Women's Nike Air Vapormax 2018 Shoes Grey Pink , most folks just think of physical health – going to the gym, eating right, that type of thing. But there is more -much more – to help you to be whole. There is economic health, which is pivotal to your complete wellbeing. And there is “mental” health.
By mental health, I am not talking about mental illness. I am talking about the way humanity think. I’m sure you’ve heard the motto that “thoughts are things.” But what does that in effect mean? If thoughts are things, can reexamining your thoughts transform your world? Can you be more healthy, better-off, more financially free just by changing the way you think? The marvelous thing is you definitely can!
How I discovered that thoughts are things.
For long time I searched for a method to be happier – in my relationships, in my health and in my bank account. Things improved to some extent, but it seemed as though I could only go so far. Then I would drop back. I went to Church habitually. I practiced Yoga and contemplation. I read everything i could get my hands on. I was looking for answers. Yet my life seemed to be frozen.
One night everything changed. Five years ago, at a Yoga class, I overheard the coach and a novice talking about a video that had changed their lives. That film was “The Secret.” I’d never heard of it and for some reason I had to know what the video was. I actually butted right into their dialogue to find out. I went to my apartment and rented it from Netflix. What an eye opener! Basically, the “secret” is that if you decide on something you yearn for, visualize it daily, and actually see yourself as having whatever it is, you can get it. You can “attract” whatever it is to you. The film was done in a very simplistic way, but it started me down a highway I had never taken before.
Change your thoughts, change your life!
I began to read and listen to books on cd and articles on personal growth. I found authors like Napoleon Hill, Steven R. Covey, Malcolm Gladwell, Robert T. Kiyosaki and others. I started listening to personal trainers like Bob Proctor, Les Brown and David Wood.
It dawned on me that altering my thought processes was the answer. The question was, “How do I change the way I think?” First, I needed to understand how my brain functioned.
The conscious vs. unconscious mind.
One of the things I learned was the difference between the conscious mind and the subconscious mind. In essence, your conscious mind is the “cognizant” part of your brain but the subconscious actually runs the show. Your subconscious keeps everything running smoothly. It keeps your heart beating, controls the movement of your arms and legs, and holds your beliefs. This is all performed with electrical synapses in the brain – little bursts of energy.
When you were first born, you began to create neural pathways in your brain. These are like little train tracks the electrical current follows each time to you learn to do something new. Over your life span, these train tracks become ingrained and each time you move your right hand, for example, the same neural pathway is used over again.
The same thing happens with your beliefs. The habits and beliefs you learned over the years, those passed down from your parents, obtained from your teachers and your own life adventures, also have neural pathways. They are etched in your mind. And since the same “train tracks” have been used so many times, they are not simple to redirect. These long-standing habits and beliefs are tucked away in your subconscious brain – which is running the show – your show.
