MELBOURNE， Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- Romanian star Simona Halep will be sidelined for some time， admitting she is suffering from tendinitis in her left knee after a shock first round exit at the Australian Open on Monday.
American Shelby Rogers' aggressive game plan made quick work of the fourth seed in straight sets 6-3， 6-1 in just 75 minutes in their opening round clash， boosting her confidence knowing she can match it with the best under a tough draw.
"I'm kind of used to that， playing the seeds and playing big matches right off the bat，" the world No. 52 told reporters， adding she has always enjoyed playing on big courts with big crowds.
"I have always loved that atmosphere. It's a little bit different playing on such a big court and then having different pressures coming from everywhere. I think I have matured a little bit and gotten used to that."
Though bothered by the pain late in the first set， withdrawing from the match never entered Halep' s mind as "it's not in my inside (sic)" ， the fourth-ranked told reporters， admitting Rogers "deserved to win" from her aggressive play and strong ball hitting.
"She was stronger today than me，" Halep said.
The Romanian has been suffering from the injury since late last year， undergoing non-invasive treatment， while taking anti-inflammatory medication over the last couple of days， though she hasn't seen a doctor yet to determine if surgery is needed.
"I need an MRI (magnetic resonance imaging)... (and) probably need some time off to get it well，" Halep said.
"It's difficult to play with the pain， and the knees are dangerous， so I have to take care."
It's the second first round exit for Halep at the Australian Open after being downed by an emotional Zhang Shuai in straight sets 6-4， 6-3 last year.
Rogers will face home wild card Ashleigh Barty in round two.

Earlier in the day, world soccer body FIFA announced it would ban Suarez from all football for four months after he bit an Italian rival during a match.
Lugano also said he was confident in the team's ability on the field without their star forward, saying ""nothing will stop us.""
""Indignation, powerlessness, I think that's what we are all feeling,"" Lugano posted online hours after the International Federation of Associated Football (FIFA) ousted Suarez from the cup.
""We would all like a more just world, but such a world simply doesn't exist,"" wrote Lugano, suggesting the ban was unfair.
The incident marks the third time Suarez has been penalized by FIFA for biting an opponent on the field.
Lugano went on to say Suarez ""will bounce back as always"" and urged the player's family to ""continue to be proud of him, he deserves it.""
""Nothing will stop us. We will plow ahead with humility, unity, commitment, acknowledging errors and with our heads always held high,"" said Lugano, who has been on the sidelines since suffering an injury in Uruguay's debut match.
Suarez was suspended from nine games with the national team, and for four months from any football game, according to FIFA's disciplinary committee.
Uruguay next plays Colombia in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday as part of the round of 16.
FIFA determined that Suarez bit Italian midfielder Giorgio Chiellini during a Group D match that Uruguay won 1-0 and that sent the Italians packing.
