NEW YORK -- Joe Girardi is happy to see Jacoby Ellsbury in Yankees pinstripes instead of the uniform of the rival Boston Red Sox. Authentic Billy Smith Jersey . "You are going to make my job a lot easier," the New York manager told his new outfielder. "You no longer are a thorn in my side. You are a flower in our clubhouse, and Im happy to have you." Ellsbury agreed to a $153 million, seven-year contract Dec. 3, and the deal was completed four days later. He was formally introduced Friday at a Yankee Stadium news conference, part of an off-season transformation that has seen New York add Brian McCann and Carlos Beltran while watching Robinson Cano depart. Ellsbury will wear No. 22 with the Yankees, taking over the number of Roger Clemens, another Boston star who moved south to New York. No. 2, Ellsburys uniform with the Red Sox, belongs to Yankees captain Derek Jeter. Ellsbury was No. 23 in college, but thats retired in honour of Don Mattingly. And Ellsbury started his big league career with No. 46, which was worn by Andy Pettitte and isnt being given out any time soon, if at all. "Twenty-two, Ive never worn that number, but 2 is my favourite number, so why not have two of them?" Ellsbury said. A lefty-hitting leadoff man, the 30-year-old led the majors with 52 steals despite a broken foot late this season. He finished with a .298 average, nine homers and 53 RBIs. Ellsbury spent 158 days on the disabled list in 2010 after breaking ribs in a collision with third baseman Adrian Beltre. He was on the DL for 90 days in 2012, when he dislocated his right shoulder when sliding into Rays shortstop Reid Brignac while trying to break up a double-play in Bostons home opener. "I play the game hard. I play the game I feel like the right way," Ellsbury said. "It was just two unfortunate things." He didnt go on the DL this year, when he was limited to 134 games by a broken bone in his right foot that he played on throughout the post-season before it completely healed. "I already made my mind up I would play in the post-season no matter how it felt," he said. "There was a risk -- a foul ball off my foot. ... The reward was worth the risk." New York general manager Brian Cashman thinks the injuries were anomalies. "Theres risk always when you make those type of commitments, but we signed the player because of the projected reward," Cashman said. "Hes a unique talent." Ellsburys arrival was linked to the slow negotiations with All-Star second baseman Robinson Cano, who left for a $240 million, 10-year deal with Seattle. "We have to start moving now," Cashman remembered telling his bosses. "And to move early, you have to step up and separate yourself from the pack." Ellsburys deal calls for salaries of $21,142,857.15 per season and includes a $21 million team option for 2021 with a $5 million buyout. Ellsbury gets a full no-trade provision and the right to purchase six Legends Suite tickets per year. "Ive seen him get base hits. Ive seen him hit home runs. Ive seen him steal second. Ive seen him steal third," Girardi said. "And I even had the pleasure of watching him steal home off of Andy Pettitte when I was standing right behind him and we were all screaming at Andy. "Ive seen him make great catches that changed the complexion of the scores between the Red Sox and Yankees. And thats why Im so excited to have him in our lineup on a daily basis, because theres so many different ways that he can beat you, whether its with his power, his speed or his glove." After seven seasons with the Red Sox and two World Series titles, Ellsbury took out a full-page ad in Fridays editions of The Boston Globe. "To the fans of New England, teammates and the many friendships made. Thank you!" the ad stated. He wouldnt be surprised if he receives a hostile reception when he returns to Fenway Park next season. "Fans like to boo. Its just kind of fun to boo," he said. But he cherishes his time in Boston. He had dinner Thursday night with former Red Sox teammates Dustin Pedroia and David Ross. "It was seven great years. The fans treated me great," Ellsbury said. "The guys in the clubhouse, those are relationships that Ill have for the rest of my life regardless of what uniform Im in or the uniform theyre in." NOTES: Wells wore 22 at the end of last season. With Ellsbury, Brett Gardner, Beltran, Alfonso Soriano and Ichiro Suzuki, there appears no room for Wells on the roster unless there is a trade or injury. Authentic Nick Leddy Jersey . Ferguson told Uniteds in-house TV channel on Saturday that he has no immediate plans to walk away from the game, and that he still hungers for more trophies even after 25 years in charge of the club. Authentic Brock Nelson Jersey .The seventh-seeded Raonic was scheduled to play U.S. Open finalist Kei Nishikori of Japan, but was replaced in the Group B pool by Spanish substitute David Ferrer.Raonic, who was 0-2 at the year-end event, said he suffered the injury late in the first set of Tuesdays 6-3, 7-6 loss to Murray. http://www.cheapislandersjerseysauthentic.com/?tag=authentic-thomas-hickey-jersey . With timely hitting and good pitching, the Marlins are one win away from sweeping the slumping Houston Astros.MONTREAL -- Now that Hernan Bernardello has settled in with the Montreal Impact, perhaps the new designated player from Argentina call tell them something about winning games away from home. The Impact (12-7-5) looked stunning in their new starting alignment with Bernardello and veteran Patrice Bernier anchoring the midfield as they won their last two games at home, including last weeks 5-0 pasting of Sporting Kansas City. They hope to make it three wins in a row when they face the Union (10-8-8) in Philadelphia on Saturday night. Except that the Impact are 0-3-2 on the road since their last win in Kansas City on June 1. But the squad has a new look with Bernardello in the starting 11, helping to reduce space for opponents on the defensive side of the ball and to get the ball forward to Major League Soccer scoring leader Marco Di Vaio and the other attacking players. "Hes an experienced player who has played at a high level," midfielder Justin Mapp said Friday. "With him sitting alongside Patrice it brings two experienced guys who are good on the ball and can win the ball back for us when we push numbers forward on the counter or whatever." The 26-year-olds arrival has moved coach Marco Schallibaum and his staff to tweak the starting lineup. It has the same back line with Alessandro Nesta and Matteo Ferrari in the central defence between Hassoun Camara and Jeb Brovsky. Bernier and Bernardello play at the back of the midfield, with Mapp and Andres Romero on the wings, Felipe Martins in the centre and Di Vaio up front. They bumped captain Davy Arnaud from the lineup, but he has been coming off the bench in recent games. The Impact say the lineup is not cast in stone, but it looked like something worth keeping together against Kansas City. "Its important to have a typical team, but in the end, were a group and weve seen that every player can bring something to the team," said Camara. "Davy Arnaud didnt start last weeek, but when he came in he brought something. Authentic Jan Kovar Jersey. "Were 27 in our group and we all bring something." The team will be have assistant coach Mauro Biello running the bench for a second game in a row as Schallibaum completes his two-game suspension for a blow-up against D.C. United two weeks ago. But the Swiss Volcano, suspended four times this season, has been active in training all week and his message has been about getting off to strong starts on the road. A list was posted in the locker room showing that in their last five road games the team has surrendered a goal within six minutes three times. Another came in the 10th minute and the other in the 19th. That is not a recipe for winning. "Its something you work on mostly from the mental aspect," said Biello. "We did that this week and were hoping to be ready from the start. "For a while now when weve been on the road weve had defensive problems. Well try to change that and not give the opponent as much space." It will help that the team is on a high after winning big against Kansas City. Di Vaio scored twice for a second game in a row and leads MLS with 15 goals. Felipe, Brovsky and substitute Andrea Pisanu also scored, while Mapp had two assists and hit a crossbar. The win put Montreal into first place in the Eastern Conference with two games in hand on their closest pursuers. But as good as theyve been at home, they have won only three times on the road this season. It wont be easy in Philadelphia, where the Union are smarting from a 5-1 loss to New England in their last outing. The Union are dangerous on attack with Sebastien Le Toux, who leads MLS with 12 assists, and forwards Jack McInerney, who has 10 goals, and Conor Casey, who has scored nine. There is concern for Ferrari, who left practice early on Friday with an illness. Biello said only that recently signed Spaniard Adrian Lopez "is an option" if Ferrari is out.
