ORCHARD PARK, N. Womens Vikings Jerseys .Y. -- Buffalo Bills rookie quarterback E.J. Manuel has a sprained lateral collateral ligament in his right knee that will not require surgery but will sideline him at least two weeks and potentially longer, coach Doug Marrone said Friday. Manuel was injured in the third quarter of Buffalos 37-24 loss at Cleveland on Thursday, when he was hit by Browns safety Tashaun Gipson at the end of a 14-yard run. Marrone said it is too early to determine an exact timetable for Manuels return. "What we need right now is for it to calm down, see where were at," Marrone said, "see where hes at in probably a week to see how its progressing, where he is, then get it down in to a little bit more of a window." Rookie Jeff Tuel came in for Manuel but was ineffective, completing 8 of 20 passes for 80 yards. Marrone said the Bills (2-3) will look into acquiring another quarterback and did not rule out the possibility of that player starting Buffalos next game Oct. 13 at Cincinnati (2-2). Manuel had already gained a first down on the play on which he was hurt, but Marrone defended the quarterbacks decision not to slide. "This one (Thursday) night was a tough situation because I really dont think he saw the guy coming to the inside until late," Marrone said. "You see him get the first down and you see him trying to get as much as you can and then try to protect himself." After hitting Manuel, Gipson pumped his fist and stared in the direction of the quarterback on the ground. Bills centre Eric Wood called some Browns players "classless" for the way they reacted to Manuels injury. "The hit was fine," Wood said. "What ticked me off was the way they acted afterwards. I hope our defence never acts like that when they injure an opposing quarterback because youve got to show some class in that situation. "Theres a few guys over there that obviously didnt." Wood singled out Browns safety T.J. Ward, claiming he told Bills rookie linebacker Kiko Alonso, Wards former teammate at Oregon, that he should have warned Manuel that Clevelands defence was coming after him. "That is completely inaccurate," Ward said on a conference call. "I did speak to Kiko and he went to Oregon with me. But anytime a player gets hurt, you never praise or root for players to get hurt. Its competitive sport, a violent sport, but when you see players go down, no way in any shape or form its a celebration." In the first quarter, Browns quarterback Brian Hoyer suffered what ended up being a season-ending knee injury when he got his leg caught underneath him in a slide and was hit near the head by Alonso. Several Browns wanted a penalty called on the hit. "I dont think there was any intention there," Cleveland coach Rob Chudzinski said. "Brian was sliding. It was just an unfortunate thing. I think his cleat got caught up underneath him." This is the second time Manuel has been out with a knee injury. He missed the final two weeks of the preseason after hurting his left knee while scrambling in a win over Minnesota on Aug. 16. Kevin Kolb started the following weekend at Washington, but sustained a season-ending concussion during that game. The Bills were forced to scramble to address their depth at quarterback by signing free agent Matt Leinart and acquiring Thaddeus Lewis in a trade with Detroit. Leinart was cut a day after the Bills preseason finale vs. Detroit. Lewis was cut a day later before being re-signed to Buffalos practice squad. The Bills are banged up at other positions, but an extra weekend of rest will help them recover. Leading receiver Stevie Johnson has a strained back muscle that is not expected to keep him out of action, Marrone said. Johnson left Thursdays game in the second quarter and did not return. He sat out most of spring practices with a back injury. Pro Bowl safety Jairus Byrd (plantar fasciitis) and starting cornerback Stephon Gilmore (wrist) will both practice this week, Marrone said, and the Bills are hopeful one or both players will be able to make his regular-season debut against Cincinnati. Cornerback Ron Brooks (foot), wide receiver Marquise Goodwin (hand) and kicker Dustin Hopkins (groin) are also close to returning, Marrone said. "Its part of the game to lose guys, lose games," running back Fred Jackson said. "Youve got to come back and respond. Weve got a good, extended period before our next game so hopefully we can get some guys back from injuries and do what weve got to do to hit the ground running when we get to the next game." Buffalo released punter Shawn Powell on Friday after he finished with 23.1 yards-per-punt net against Cleveland and failed to land one inside the Browns 20. Powell also struggled with angling punts away from Clevelands Travis Benjamin, who returned seven punts for a franchise-record 179 yards, including a 79-yard touchdown return. Scott Cullen has notes on Price, Tuukka Rask, P.K. Subban, Rene Bourque and more. HABS STEAL GAME ONE Despite being soundly outplayed by the hometown Boston Bruins, the Montreal Canadiens emerged from Game One with a 4-3 double-overtime win, thanks to G Carey Price, who stopped 48 of the 51 shots that he faced. Price had a career-best .927 save percentage this season, but he had a .904 save percentage in the first round sweep over Tampa Bay, so its not like this game was standard fare. During the regular season, Price had a dozen games during which he recorded at least 35 saves, ranking fifth in the league. What is important for the Canadiens, though, is that Price is capable of stealing games like this because thats likely what is going to be required if Montreal is going to upset a superior puck possession team. At the other end, Vezina Trophy favourite Tuukka Rask stopped 29 of 33 shots and he was critical of his own performance. Maybe a little hard on himself, as goalies can be, but it could also reflect some frustration. For as great as Rask has been to this point in his career -- he has the best save percentage in the league since 2009-2010 -- but has had his problems with Montreal, including a .908 save percentage in 17 regular-season games against the Habs and has yet to beat the Canadiens in Boston, now 0-9 after Game One. Montreal got a pair of goals -- their first and last -- from D P.K. Subban, who played a game-high 33:49 in Game One and now has seven points in five playoff games this season. Likely the most pleasant surprise of this postseason for the Habs has been LW Rene Bourque, who scored three goals against Tampa Bay in the first round and came up with a goal and an assist against Boston. The Bruins controlled play so thoroughly that LW Daniel Paille hhad their worst possession numbers, and he was still on for 51. Cheap Vikings Jerseys. 9% of 5-on-5 shot attempts. Defencemen Dougie Hamilton and Zdeno Chara as well as C Patrice Bergeron and RW Reilly Smith were all on for better than 70% of shot attempts. There was an interesting allocation at the bottom of the Habs puck possession chart for this game. LW Travis Moen (17.4%) was at the very bottom, but the next four, all under 26%, were the shortest Habs -- RW Brendan Gallagher, C David Desharnais, C Daniel Briere and D Mike Weaver. The only two Canadiens over 50% in shot attempts were Bourque and Lars Eller. Its just one game, so this could mean nothing at all, but it might be worth watching to see if the Canadiens smaller players continue to have possession problems as the series progresses. Credit to Eller, by the way, for coming up with positive possession stats while starting with one offensive zone face-off compared to 17 in the defensive zone (5.6%) in Game One. One of the subplots of the game, from Montreals perspective, is that head coach Michel Therrien demoted RW Thomas Vanek from the first line to the fourth line from a point early in the second period until midway through the third period. Vanek finished the game with 18:58 of ice time, which ranked ninth among Montreal forwards. Certainly getting a Game One win on the road is favourable under any circumstances, but getting it in a game in which they were so thoroughly dominated is especially good for the Canadiens, who had to lean so heavily on their goaltending to even have a chance. Now, can they close the possession gap and try to take Game Two in Boston without requiring Price to deliver another out-of-this-world performance?
