In my first Fantasy Football article for DN in August Cheap Ben Gedeon Jersey , I wrote the following regarding Kyle Rudolph:Through 7 games, Rudolph sits at 28 catches, 282 yards, and 2 touchdowns. Not eye popping numbers. The fact that his 28 catches is in the top-10 for tight ends is less of a good statistic for him, and more of a sad commentary of how awful the talent pool at tight end is in the NFL right now. What’s more disturbing is that he is among the highest paid tight ends in the league, and not remotely performing like it. Coming into this season, many thought the presence of Kirk Cousins would lead to improved production from Rudolph. What most ‘experts’ missed was that Jordan Reed and Vernon Davis are much more athletic Sheldon Richardson Jersey , and do much better in terms of YAC. Rudolph has never been spectacular with the ball in his hands, and doesn’t separate particularly well against competent coverage. So whether or not he is worth the money needs to be on the mind of Rick Spielman, especially with a contract year in 2019 where none of Rudolph’s money is guaranteed. All of that being said, this comes back to what I stated earlier. The talent pool at tight end is so thin, that most fantasy owners don’t have another viable starter on their roster to justify benching, or even cutting Rudolph. The fact is, he has the most receiving touchdowns by an NFL tight end since 2016. But this season Cheap Stefon Diggs Jersey , he is not the red-zone threat he has been the past 2 seasons. Having only 3 red-zone receptions, which is where he brings home the bacon for his fantasy owners, it just doesn’t seem like he is worth his salary on the team. Yes, he also plays a big part blocking, but that doesn’t help fantasy owners. Going forward, be cautious with him. However, this doesn’t mean he can’t turn his season around statistically over the next 9 games. It might not even be a bad time to buy-low on him. Again http://www.vikingscheapshops.com/cheap-authentic-brett-jones-jersey , do it with caution, as his production has gone from mediocre to poor.Dalvin Cook, Trae Waynes miss Wednesday practice On Wednesday, the Minnesota Vikings resumed practicing in preparation for their game on Sunday in Philadelphia. A couple of pretty significant players found themselves on the sideline during Wednesday’s festivities.Running back Dalvin Cook and running back Trae Waynes sat out of Wednesday’s practice. Cook is still nursing the hamstring injury that he suffered in Week 2 and left him on a “pitch count” against the Rams last Thursday, while Waynes is apparently dealing with the effects of a concussion suffered during that loss in Los Angeles.Waynes will have to pass the concussion protocol in order to get back onto the field by Sunday, but it still remains to be seen whether or not Cook will be able to take the field against what is, right now Mike Remmers Jersey , the best run defense in the NFL. The Vikings’ rush offense is currently the NFL’s worst, so any spark that Cook could potentially provide would be welcomed.Several Vikings were limited participants in Wednesday’s practice, including defensive tackle Linval Joseph (shoulder), defensive end Tashawn Bower (ankle), and punt returner Marcus Sherels (ribs). Sherels has missed the last two games for the Vikings, with rookie Mike Hughes handling punt returns in his absence. We will be keeping an eye on all of the Vikings’ injuries, especially those to Waynes and Cook Cheap Everson Griffen Jersey , leading up to the final injury reports being released on Friday. However, it hasn’t gotten off to a good start for either of those two players this week.
Kirk Cousins is not who you think he is A few days after Kirk Cousins signed his precedent-setting contract with the Minnesota Vikings Cheap Anthony Barr Jersey , I received a phone call from a number I didn’t recognize.Like any normal person, I didn’t answer it. Because duh who doesn’t screen their phone calls these days, amirite? Yet, the same number called again just a few minutes later, and this time they left a voicemail. When I hit ‘play’, a nervous, almost scared voice was at the other end.“I’m risking a lot by leaving this voicemail, but your new QB isn’t who you think he is. If you want to know more, meet me at the Historic Adventist Village in Battle Creek, MI, next Wednesday. 3 PM sharp. I’ll find you. Quit screening your calls, and DELETE THIS MESSAGE!”Click.I returned the call, and the number had already been disconnected. But there was something about that voice, the desperation in it, maybe, that intrigued me. I mean, who DOESN’T want to go to the museum about the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Battle Creek MI, just for giggles if nothing else? So, I headed out. My life was about to change forever, and things I felt certain about I now question. But before I can tell that story, I must tell you this one first. Who could think everything you’ve ever come to question would begin in a place like Battle Creek, MI?As I’m walking through the Adventist Center, looking at the painting of that dude that looks like a bald Col. Sanders, I was thinking ‘man I hope this town has a Kentucky Fried Chicken because I’m hungry af right now’, someone came up to me from behind.“Keep walking, and whatever you do, don’t swear”, said the voice.“Why Not?”“Because it’s a museum about the Seventh Day Adventists, you idiot.”The word ‘idiot’ drew half a dozen cross looks from the staff that made this Missouri Synod Lutheran proud and I smiled just a little bit, although all the subterfuge and cloak and dagger stuff was making me a bit uneasy. But I complied and my contact led me outside, and once there we walked about a block with no words being spoken.Holy crap I really wanted some KFC right about now. I kinda had to pee, too. I have to pee when I get nervous.“Okay”, he said. “Turn around. We’re safe here.”I turned to meet my contact. An unremarkable person, in an unremarkable town, in an unremarkable state. But what a remarkable story he was about to tell me. We introduced ourselves Cheap Adam Thielen Jersey , and I promised this person that I wouldn’t reveal their identity. Your secret is safe with me, Frank. I’ll take it to the grave.“Look’” he began, “I know you guys are pretty happy with Kirk Cousins, your new quarterback. But let me tell you, he’s not the guy he’s made himself out to be. Not even close.”“What do you mean?” I asked. “He’s more ‘aw shucks’’ than Joe Mauer. This is a big nothing burger, which is probably what Cousins puts on his. Because God Forbid he do anything wild and crazy like put ketchup on a burger”, I said more than a bit sarcastically.I turned away to head back to my car because MAN I WANT SOME ORIGINAL RECIPE IN MAH BELLY RIGHT NOW, and my source, who I’ll call Sparty Throat, yelled “but I have proof!”I stopped, and turned to meet his gaze.“Proof, you say? Let me see.”“Plain hamburgers, huh? Take a look at this.”Sparty Throat opened the man purse European Shoulder Bag he was carrying, pulled out a picture, and handed it to me. At first glance, it was Cousins eating a burger. But...there was more. I couldn’t believe my eyes. “That’s not a plain burger”, I said. “That looks...loaded. Dragged through the garden loaded. Tomato, onion, lettuce, and a ketchup and mustard bottle, too. Damn, man. That’s pretty nuts. It’s a lot of things, but ‘plain’ is the last word I would use.”Then I noticed...it.“Mother of God...”, as my voice tailed off.“A fried egg? Yes it is. And cheese.” Sparty Throat was smiling now as he saw the look of revelation come across my face. “And I have more pictures like this. Lots more.”All of a sudden his desire to meet at a Seventh Day Adventist museum was clear—he was sending a message. And he was doing so in kind of a smart ass, ironic sort of way, which I can fully appreciate.“Okay, you have my attention. Let’s see where this takes us.”“You don’t know the half of it. This squeaky clean, boring guy image he protrays? No. Not even close. Kirk is nothing like that when the cameras aren’t rolling. Are you sure you want to keep going?”“Yeah, let’s do this.”He brought out another picture.“Take a look at this one”, as he thrust his smelly Michigan paw towards me.I looked, and didn’t really see anything.“I don’t see the big deal with this one,” I half muttered. “It’s just a picture of Cousins eating a bowl of plain oatmeal, probably made right here in Battle Creek.”“Look closer,” Sparty Throat said, almost mockingly. “Next to the bowl. And then look closely at the oatmeal box.”I blinked http://www.vikingscheapshops.com/cheap-authentic-trae-waynes-jersey , then stared. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. I closed my eyes, rubbed them with my thumb and forefinger. Sighed, then opened them. Looked again. Harder this time. What was I missing? Then I saw it. Are you sure? Yes, I was sure...it was unmistakable.“Sugar. He put sugar on his oatmeal. And it looks like the oatmeal is a made in China knock off brand.”“Yes!” Sparty Throat exclaimed. “Do you see now? He’s a fraud! His whole image is a fraud, a persona.”He quickly spun his head around, like he was looking for something, someone.“What’s the matter? Are you waiting to meet someone else, get us in to a bidding war? Because let me tell you something, I’m a blogger. I don’t make shit. I mean, I write shit, create shit—terrible, awful shit (Ed note: AHEM), but I can’t pay you the kind of money you’re probably going to be asking for.”“No. No no no, it’s not that. Kirk has spies everywhere. If he knew we were talking, my life would be over.”“Wait, Kirk Cousins would have you killed?”“No. But he would sabotage my life in ways that I can’t begin to describe.”“Try me.”“Well, at the next church social, we have to all bring a tater tot casserole (ED. note: It’s casserole, not hot dish, you Jacobins) of some kind. It wouldn’t be above Kirk to swap out my award winning sausage and cheese casserole with a tuna noodle casserole...with no potatoes or tater tots in it at all. Just noodles.”“Jesus Christ. Tuna noodle casserole? That’s heinous. With peas, too?”“Two cans instead of one.”“What kind of monster is this guy?” I asked as I let out a long, low whistle.“There’s a good chance he wouldn’t have even cooked the tuna all the way through, and would have pulled the noodles out of the water a few minutes early, so they’re still just a little bit crunchy.”“My God, you’d be ruined.”“Yeah. I could never show my face in that church again, and I’d probably have to move, too.”Sparty Throat got quiet, pensive. A look of sadness came across his face, and I felt sympathy for the man, and the situation he was in.“That’s Kirk, though. He’s got a personality, and a sense of humor. Look, go to Ypsilanti. There’s a Midas shop there, ask for Bob. He’s worked on Kirk’s conversion van for years. He’ll tell you a story or two about Kirk. And you do with that information what you will. I have to go. His spies are everywhere.”And with that, he was off.And I was off to Ypsilanti Cheap Mike Hughes Jersey , because I had to get the truth,* the whole truth,** and nothing but the truth.****If you guys haven’t figured out this is a parody, don’t take an IQ test. You’ll be disappointed.**Seriously, completely made up.***Tuna casserole is the worst casserole though, that’s 100% true. Should the Los Angeles Chargers Re-Sign Antonio Gates? Should the Los Angeles Chargers re-sign Antonio Gates?Matthew Stanley: Yes Youth Caleb Sturgis Jersey , the Chargers should re-sign Antonio Gates. However, it won’t completely solve things. It will help, but he most certainly will not replace what the team expected to get from Hunter Henry.Richard Wade: Reflexively, I want to say “yes,” but I’m not convinced that bringing back Gates is actually the right decision. He’s the greatest tight end in franchise history, but he is well past his prime and I don’t love the way that Philip Rivers still occasionally locked in on him last season.Jamie Hoyle: No, I don’t think the Chargers should re-sign Antonio Gates. It seems like an easy fix but I don’t think it actually fixes anything. They decided to move on because they had Henry Jahleel Addae Jersey , but also because they thought he didn’t add enough value to bring him back, and his inability to add value doesn’t really change just because Henry got hurt. Trust the evaluation and move on, he’d fade by mid-season if they asked him to replace Hunter Henry’s snaps on the offense. I’d rather take a flier on Julius Thomas than go back to the well with Gates again.Jamie Sewell: No, Gates isn’t the answer. He’s nothing more than a very limited role player at this point in his career, and bringing him back would be for nostalgia reasons over anything else.John Gennaro: Rivers is that weird guy that doesn’t like people he doesn’t already know. He’s already pissed that Gates is gone, and they spent two years getting him comfortable with Hunter first. If you bring in a fresh face, El Capitan is going to lose his shit and/or never throw to him.Garrett Sisti: No I’d take a look at a few free agent Tight Ends before bringing Gates back. There was a time where Gates would demand attention just by being on the field even when he wasn’t as effective as he’d been in the past; that time is gone now.Kyle Posey: I wouldn’t sign Gates. He’ll likely give you a solid stretch of plays but at this point Authentic Dan Feeney Jersey , the team is better without him. If Whiz is creative, he’ll slide Keenan Allen inside & generate targets in Hunter Henry’s absence. I’d roll with 4 WRs & spread teams out. It would likely create bigger run lanes for Melvin Gordon.Jason Michaels: Yes, the Chargers should make every effort to re-sign Antonio Gates. As a PR move, this is a win.As a move of necessity, this is a no-brainer.Is it likely?I’d give it a 50/50 shot, but the proverbial ball is firmly in Gates’ hands.Keep in mind, I don’t think that this would ‘fix’ the situation http://www.authenticlosangeleschargers.com/cheap-drew-kaser-jersey , the question was Should the Chargers re-sign Antonio Gates. The answer is YES, they should definitely try. They will need another helper, but there are too many upsides to this move.Ruben J. Gonzalez: No, I don’t think they should re-sign Antonio Gates. It was evident last year that he has lost a step and is only really good for those 5-yard curls. If they wanted to bring somebody back, I would consider Jeff Cumberland. At one point in training camp a few years back I remember one of the coaches say that he was the fastest player on the field. Cumberland would eventually tear his Achilles and we never got to see what he could do. I’m still curious. Ask me about trading for Gronk, and I will give you an absolute yes! Even if he’s only with the Chargers for one or two years, that’s fine because Henry will be full strength by then. What do you think? Vote in the poll and let us know in the comments below. A week removed from taking the Baltimore Ravens apart in Baltimore Youth Michael Schofield Jersey , the Los Angeles Chargers are once again road underdogs as they face off against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in Foxboro. The Chargers have not beat the Patriots since 2008, have not beat them at home since 2005, and have not beat them in the playoffs since 1964. Still, today is a new day and Anthony Lynn’s Chargers were not supposed to win last week either.Philip Rivers has performed at an MVP level this season. Melvin Gordon finally had the breakout year Chargers fans had been waiting for. Melvin Ingram and Joey Bosa headline one of the NFL’s best defenses. The Patriots are still the Patriots, but they are not the juggernaut they once were. Everything is lining up for the Chargers to have a real chance to steal a victory at Gillette Stadium today. The Chargers still undefeated in games played outside of Los Angeles this season, so hopefully that trend can continue today. Oakland Raiders coach Jon Gruden wants Marshawn Lynch to see more of the ball when the running back goes up against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.Lynch only had 31 yards rushing on nine carries in last Sunday's 26-10 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers and Gruden is looking for bigger numbers at Wembley Stadium in London when the former Seahawk gets his first chance to play his old team.Problem is Womens Customized Los Angeles Chargers Jerseys , Lynch isn't the only offensive threat on the 1-4 Raiders who is looking for more touches."We've got a lot of guys who need to see the ball more," Gruden said after arriving in the British capital following a nearly 11-hour flight. "We've done some good things offensively. But good is not good enough. We need to start playing great offensively. To do that we need to see more of Lynch. And we need to see a bit more of the ball going across the goal line, that's the big thing."Quarterback Derek Carr also said he "definitely" wants to hand off more often to Lynch. He had 20 carries for 130 yards the previous week in the Raiders' only win against the Cleveland Browns."We want to be 100 percent balanced every time," Carr said. "That kind of balance is good for our football team. It's good me, it's good for him (Lynch), it's good for our offensive line."That balance also includes figuring out how to spread the ball around more evenly between Carr's top receivers, who have taken turns putting up big numbers in different games.Wide receiver Amari Cooper has been the most inconsistent, with two 100-yard outings mixed with a total of four catches for 36 yards in the other three games combined. Against the Chargers, he finished with one catch for 10 yards and was only targeted once. However, quarterback Derek Carr insisted that stat was a bit misleading."When I look at targets, I don't look at it as I only looked his way one time," Carr said. "There was definitely multiple times I was looking his way. But they just didn't end up working out."Cooper is only the team's third leading receiver this season Authentic Derwin James Jersey , behind tight end Jared Cook and former Green Bay Packer Jordy Nelson. The two-time Pro Bowler said he's happy sharing the load, but also wants to see all of the team's top threats putting it together at the same time."We have a lot of guys with ability. A lot of guys who can go off and kind of take over a game, and that's a good thing," Cooper said. "We'd like to do it a bit more collectively, as a group. That would be better, and give us our best shot of winning."Lynch, who spent six seasons with Seattle (2-3) and helped the team win the Super Bowl in the 2013 season, was not among the five players who spoke to media at their hotel next to Wembley on Friday. But there's no doubt he'll be the main focus when the game kicks off on Sunday."He's had a lot to do with the Super Bowl ring that the Seahawks wear," Gruden said. "He was the heart and soul of that team. In a lot of ways he's the heart and soul of the Raiders right now. He's still running with that incredible physicality. He's been durable, he's practiced every day."Behind the scenes, he's one of our leaders. He's a bit misunderstood by a lot of people. But believe me, if you were coaching a football team http://www.sandiegochargersteamonline.com/derwin-james-jersey , I think he'd be one of the first guys you'd want on your team."Three-Down Back: A trio of things to watch for against the Los Angeles Rams So we are finally here. The highly-anticipated match-up between the Chargers and the Rams. The very first, legitimate installment of the #FightForLA.Are you ready? Because I don’t know if I am.I really wish that both teams were able to come into this game with unblemished records. That definitely would have pushed the stakes to an even higher level. Unfortunately, the Chargers come in at 1-1 and are officially a full touchdown underdog to the red-hot Rams.I recently made an appearance on the radio out in San Diego during the Mark and Rich Show on XTRA 1360. These are always very short bits and I only get asked a few questions whenever I’m on. The first question this time around was very simple:“Is it surprising that the Chargers are underdogs by an entire touchdown?”I told them no, it really isn’t. The Chargers haven’t looked too bad so far, but the Rams have been that much more dominant.Their second question was based off my answer from the first question:“If it’s not a surprise, do the Chargers even have a chance?”I said yes, they do. And without giving it all away and making this post irrelevant, let’s take a look at what i’ll be keeping a close eye on when the teams of LA collide.1.) OC Ken Whisenhunt must take advantage of mismatches with RBs Melvin Gordon and Austin Ekeler. When you glance at the Rams’ defense, there are TONS of stud players. Cornerbacks Aqib Talib and Marcus Peterson, safety Lamarcus Joyner, defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh and — oh right, arguably the best player in the NFL regardless of position Color Rush Melvin Gordon Jersey , Aaron flippin’ Donald. In terms of star-power, alone, this looks like the best defense in the NFL. However, there is one area in which the Rams lack consistent play: the linebackers. When we juxtapose the Chargers’ offense with the Rams’ defense, the area where the Chargers excel fits nicely where the Rams have shortcomings.I believe if the Chargers hope to consistently move the ball down the field against that stacked defense, Philip Rivers will have to utilize the athleticism of Gordon and Ekeler in mismatches, especially in the redzone, which he has shown a propensity for so far this season.2.) Can the Chargers’ run defense continue their strong start to the season with Todd Gurley staring back at them?In their first game of the year, the Chargers defense was able to hold last season’s rushing leader, Kareem Hunt, to just 49 yards on 16 carries. The following week, they were able to limit LeSean McCoy’s carries by running up the score and causing the veteran to only receive nine totes which he turned into just 39 rushing yards. This week Color Rush Jahleel Addae Jersey , the Bolts get Todd Gurley who was a candidate for league MVP just a season ago. In the season opener, Gurley looked like his usual self. He got a hefty 20 carries and turned them into 108 yards while catching three passes for 39 yards and a score. In last week’s match-up against the Arizona Cardinals. Gurley received another 19 carries, but only found enough running room to turn it into 42 rushing yards. The silver-lining, though? He still scored three touchdowns on the ground.Luckily for the Chargers, although the defense has been far from stout in between the 20’s, they’ve always shown a knack for buckling down when they feel the shadow of their end zone against their backs.3.) Can Philip Rivers overcome his demons when he faces off against former-AFC West cornerbacks Aqib Talib and Marcus Peters? In Peters’ last three games against the Chargers as a member of the Kansas City Chiefs, he picked off Rivers four times dating back to the end of the 2016 regular season.Talib, on the other hand, hasn’t intercepted a Philip Rivers pass in years but he was a part of the vaunted “No Fly Zone” in Denver that gave the entire NFL fits for a number of years. If I remember correctly, Rivers had a hard time just getting to the 200 yard passing mark anytime he faced the Broncos. So the theme is simple here. Rivers is about to face a pair of players that he hasn’t found success against in quite some time. Will Rivers be able to overcome the presence of these two defenders and show the city of Los Angeles that he’s not going to be haunted anymore by the ghosts of his past? Injury update: Patriots RB Jeremy Hill says he’s “okay” and returned to the game New England Patriots running back Jeremy Hill looked shaken up against the Carolina Panthers when he was horsecollared by a Panthers defender and subsequently had his legs awkwardly rolled up on. Hill hobbled to the sideline and appeared to be in a lot of pain. After the game Adrian Clayborn Jersey Salute to Service , Hill did not appear to be limping in the locker room, per the Herald’s Kevin Duffy, and it turns out that Hill actually returned to the game after his injury:Hill is competing with Mike Gillislee for one of the final roster spots and any injury at this stage of the preseason would likely lead to an unfortunate separation. Hill has the edge on Gillislee through three games, although Gillislee did look better for stretches of Friday’s game.Hopefully Hill is correct in that he avoided any injury and that he will be available for the Patriots. He’s been able to contribute on special teams and as a three-down player Kenny Britt Jersey Salute to Service , so he would be a good player to have on the roster.Week 5 Patriots vs Colts inactives: New England at near-full strength, Rob Gronkowski active In a little more over 90 minutes, the New England Patriots will play their fifth game of the season. And as opposed to their opponent, the Indianapolis Colts Authentic Cordarrelle Patterson Jersey , the team will be in solid physical shape – a look at the Patriots’ list of inactive players confirms that:Patriots inactivesThe Patriots’ inactives list shows one thing: with the exception of cornerback Eric Rowe and defensive edge Geneo Grissom, the team is at full strength: six of the eight players listed as questionable on yesterday’s final injury report are active – a group consisting of tight ends Rob Gronkowski and Jacob Hollister, wide receiver Josh Gordon, defensive tackles Adam Butler and Danny Shelton Limited Jeremy Hill Jersey , and linebacker Elandon Roberts. All five will play considerable snaps today, as will another active player – one returning to the field: wide receiver Julian Edelman was activated before the game and will suit up tonight.Colts inactivesThe Colts’ inactives were already known before today: the team declared seven players out on its final injury report yesterday to already reach the 46-man game day limit. Among the inactives are starters T.Y. Hilton, Jack Doyle and Kenny Moore II.[UPDATE, 10/04 Jordan Matthews Jersey , 7:00 p.m. ET] According to the Colts, two active players will not dress tonight: linebacker Darius Leonard and cornerback Nate Hairston are effectively joining the inactives. Both are starters on Indianapolis’ defense and missed only one combined snap over the first four weeks of the season.
Why I’m excited about the Patriots this season Brian Flores. There I said it.Brian Flores is the reason why I am excited about the New England Patriots this season. Yes Marcus Cannon Jersey , I understand that he will not completely overhaul the team’s defense as the unit’s de-facto but not yet official coordinator. And, yes, I also understand that he played a prominent role in coaching the defense ever since getting elevated to position coach in 2012. This season will therefore really not be all that different – but in some ways it still will be.You see, Flores is a highly interesting character not just because of his unique backstory. He also has plenty of experience in New England’s system and has seen it all: he knows what works, he knows what does not work Authentic Chris Hogan Jersey Salute to Service , he knows the players and the scheme holding it all together. Now, he can finally take advantage of this knowledge and turn it into a play calling career without all the added responsibilities that come with the official coordinator role.So far, the glimpses of this have been marginal. New England has not yet properly game-planned for one of its preseason matchups, and players are indifferent when it comes to the potential changes that may or may not arise with Matt Patricia no longer around. But one thing is for sure: unless disaster strikes, Flores will have a more talented group of players at his disposal when compared to what Patricia had to work with last year. The defensive front seven is the best example for this. The Patriots will have Dont’a Hightower and Derek Rivers back from injured reserve Authentic Patrick Chung Jersey , Deatrich Wise Jr. with one year of experience under his belt, and both Adrian Clayborn and Danny Shelton as newly added but established veteran presences. Those five players and/or their developments alone should help strengthen New England’s defense – and give the new play caller plenty of bodies to creatively work with.In the end, the Patriots are still Bill Belichick’s team and the defense is still his brainchild. But I’m still excited about seeing Brian Flores insert himself more into the conversation when it comes to attacking opposing offenses and using the talent available. Matt Patricia did a good albeit sometimes emotionally excruciating job. Maybe Flores can do the former without the latter. All I know is that I’m looking forward to it.Patriots release recently acquired wide receiver Amara Darboh again When the dust that was the NFL’s cutdown day had settled, the New England Patriots were left with only three pure wide receiver under contract. As a result, the team put two waiver claims on recently released players at the position – and were able to get them both onto their 53-man roster: former New York Jets wideout Chad Hansen was claimed Derek Rivers Jersey Salute to Service , as was former Seattle Seahawks receiver Amara Darboh. Both were projected to serve as depth pieces alongside Chris Hogan, Phillip Dorsett and Cordarrelle Patterson at least until Julian Edelman returned from his four-game suspension. However, it looks as if only Hansen will do that: according to ESPN’s Field Yates, New England has decided to part ways with Darboh again.NFL Network’s Mike Garofolo added some more information shortly afterwards:Given Garofolo’s report, it would not be a surprise if the Patriots opted to waive Darboh with an injury designation. If that were to be the case Limited Vincent Valentine Jersey , the 2017 third-round draft pick would revert to New England’s injured reserve list in case he cleared waivers. At that point in time, however, that is all just speculation. What we know is this: Darboh’s stint with the Patriots comes to and end after only a few days. With Darboh gone, the Patriots could look to add another wide receiver. They currently have the aforementioned quartet on their active team as well as two more pass catchers on the practice squad in Riley McCarron and Jace Billingsley – the latter is not yet officially signed, though.
Well www.saintscheapshops.com , this was hard to get through. The season wasn’t supposed to end this early, especially on a no-call as obvious as the pass interference and helmet to helmet hit on Tommylee Lewis. But alas, I have a job to do, and hopefully we can take some solace in knowing that we have a young team that should be competitive for years to come, with or without Drew Brees at the helm. Without further ado, the tape:The first touchdown came at the end of the first quarter on a staple play of many football teams throughout all levels of the game—the mesh concept. The mesh concept was created during the early days of the Air Raid offense by Lavell Edwards at BYU. The main part of this play are the two underneath crossing routes ran from receivers on opposite sides of the formation. The crossing routes are to be ran right on top of each other in order to create a natural rub. Here, Tre’Quan Smith (top of screen) and Garrett Griffin will run the crossers, with Griffin being the underneath receiver. Michael Thomas (top of screen, inside Smith) will run a corner route and fullback Zach Line will run a flat route. The corner, flat New Orleans Saints T-Shirt , and Griffin’s crossing route will create a triangular read for Drew Brees. His first read will be Thomas on the corner route, but he is covered. Next, he’ll move his eyes to Zach Line in the flat, who is also covered. His third read in the triangle will be Griffin, who is left wide open due to the rub created by the crossers. As you can see in the play above, Marcus Peters takes himself and safety John Johnson III out of the play when they collide into each other. This takes away Griffin’s trail man (Johnson) and he is able to keep running his route until Brees finds him for his first NFL touchdown. Garrett Griffin wasn’t the only Saints player to nab their first receiving touchdown in the NFL. Swiss army knife Taysom Hill was able to score a touchdown on a play that the Saints had used multiple times in the past—the shield screen.Typically this play will go to Michael Thomas, but here Payton designs it for Taysom Hill, who has the strength to break tackles near the goal line. The offense will come out in 11 personnel (1 running back, 1 tight end (Taysom Hill)) and a 2x2 set (2 receivers on each side of the formation). Brees will motion Hill across the formation which creates a trips look with three receivers towards the right side of the field. At the snap, receivers Austin Carr and Tre’Quan Smith will block for Hill New Orleans Saints Hats , thus creating the “shield” part of the play. Hill will take a step inside and Brees will quickly throw him the ball. Hill will now follow the blocks or “shield” of the other receivers and lower his shoulder to break Aqib Talib’s tackle attempt. While the blown call at the end of regulation could have changed the outcome of this game, it wasn’t the only missed opportunity for the Saints. Early in the first quarter, tight end Dan Arnold had a chance to put the team up by 7 points, which possibly could have made the missed pass interference call irrelevant. The offense comes out in shotgun with 11 personnel. Brees will motion Thomas from the outside to the slot, with corner back Talib following him and the safety cheating down to help double team the receiver. This leaves Arnold one-on-one with linebacker Mark Barron while he runs his seam route down the hash marks. Able to gain outside leverage, Brees puts the pass in the perfect spot for the tight end: high and outside. Arnold goes up and attempts to corral the pass, but is unable to secure it as he falls to the ground. The Saints will kick a field goal on the next play, gaining only three points instead of a possible seven. While this game will be in New Orleans folklore for years to come due to the no call, the team had opportunities to put the game away in other situations. This team is full of young players who will contribute for the foreseeable future, and while our draft picks are limited this year New Orleans Saints Hoodie , the draft class is deep at some positions of need.Saints Hoping to Knock Down the Defending Champion Eagles in Week 11 We’ll continue a series of opponent preview posts for the New Orleans Saints opponents in 2018. Next, we’ll finish that that “bunch of frauds” (s/o to our old pal John Sigler), the Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles. Our friends over at Bleeding Great Nation took some time to give us Saints fans the scoop a the reigning Super Bowl champs.Photo by Rich Schultz /Getty ImagesWeek 11: vs the Philadelphia EaglesNotable free agent additions:WR Mike Wallace, DT Haloti Ngata, LB Corey Nelson, (DE Michael Bennett - acquired through trade)Over/Under:10.5 wins -- Over. The reigning Super Bowl champions won 13 regular season games last year. They did this despite not having Carson Wentz, Jason Peters, Darren Sproles, Jordan Hicks, and Chris Maragos for all 16 games. The Eagles were able to overcome theses losses due to a combination of elite coaching by Doug Pederson Cheap Customized New Orleans Saints Jerseys , fantastic play in the trenches, and strong roster depth. The Eagles project to have these same strengths in 2018 so I wouldn’t bet against them. Most exciting rookie:I’m most excited about: TE Dallas Goedert (AKA Philly Goedert). Goedert measures in at 6-4, 260 pounds and boasts plus athleticism. He looked virtually unguardable in the red zone during spring practices this year. The Eagles already have one great tight end in Zach Ertz. The presence of Goedert could give Philly a new dynamic duo for Pederson to unleash on the league.Position battle to keep an eye on:The Eagles need to figure out what to do at nickel cornerback with Patrick Robinson leaving in free agency. It’s possible 2017 second-round pick Sidney Jones steps up in that role. He got the first look during OTAs. De’Vante Bausby, who spent last season on Philadelphia’s practice squad last year, also flashed during spring drills and might be the front-runner right now. Rookie fourth-round pick Avonte Maddox will throw his hat into the ring as well. It’s possible the Eagles could employ a rotation in the slot so there might not even be one true winner from this battle.Biggest storyline heading into training camp:Carson Wentz’s health status is the obvious answer here. The 25-year-old signal caller was having an MVP-caliber season before suffering an ACL tear in early December. From that moment, it was unclear if he’d be ready to start the beginning of the 2018 season. The good news is that Wentz’s recovery progress has been very encouraging. Some in the Eagles organization have described him as “shockingly ahead of schedule.” Wentz was a lot more involved in OTAs and minicamp than most expected him to be. He wasn’t participating in full team 11-on-11 drills, though, so that’s the next hurdle for him to clear. We’ll see how that goes in training camp. There’s definitely optimism that he’ll be ready to start in the NFL kickoff game on September 6.Under-the-radar storyline heading into training camp:Two of the Eagles’ biggest offseason departures took place in the coaching department. Former offensive coordinator Frank Reich is now the head coach of the Indianapolis Colts and former quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo is now the Minnesota Vikings’ offensive coordinator. It’ll be hard to gauge the impact of losing them until the season starts but this is certainly something to keep an eye on. Notable injuries heading into training camp:The list is so long that it’s easy to forget someone. Wentz is coming off the ACL. Alshon Jeffery isn’t expected to be ready until around Week 1 as he recovers from a torn rotator cuff. Timmy Jernigan had offseason surgery on a herniated disc in his back and will likely end up on the NFI/PUP list. Haloti Ngata missed all of spring practices as he recovers from torn biceps. Super Bowl hero Brandon Graham had offseason surgery on his ankle. Jordan Hicks wasn’t able to fully participate in spring practices. Chris Maragos didn’t practice at all as he recovers from a PCL injury. Besides Jernigan, there’s hope most of these players will be ready by Week 1. But we’ll have to see how they progress during the summer. ***The Saints have a tough stretch with the Falcons, Eagles Josh Hill Jersey , Rams, and Vikings within a 5-week period. The Eagles will likely be one of the toughest match-ups all season. So what says you, you unbiased Saints fans? Can the Saints knock down the defending Champs, or will they get humbled in the Dome? The 13-3 New Orleans Saints take the Mercedes Benz Superdome field later this afternoon in the last of the weekend's four NFL divisional round games. The Saints New Orleans Saints Womens T-Shirt , who had the NFL's best record and are coming off a bye week, will be playing the 19th postseason game in their franchise history. They have an 8-10 record in those games, including a 6-3 record in the Superdome, site of today's game. The team has a 2-4 record in divisional round games, but a 2-0 record at home. The Saints opponent will be the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles. The 10-7 Eagles have a 23-21 playoff record, and a 20-20 postseason record since the dawn of the Super Bowl era in 1967. Philadelphia, who has an 8-6 all-time record in the divisional round, has won four consecutive playoff games, including last week's 16-15 road upset win over the Chicago Bears. That win was only the fifth road playoff victory in Eagles franchise history, giving them a 5-11 all-time away record. The Saints have a 14-17 all-time record against the Eagles, and a 10-8 mark against them at home. This includes a 48-7 beatdown of Philly during a week 11 contest in the Superdome. Ellis LuciaThe Saints and Eagles have played three playoff games against one another, with New Orleans holding a 2-1 edge. The first such contest was a wild card round meeting during the 1992 season, on January 3, 1993. The game was in the Louisiana Superdome, and was a rematch of an early season game played in Philadelphia, a 15-13 Eagles victory. The Saints came into the battle with a 12-4 record, armed with a fearsome top ranked defense led by it's intimidating Dome Patrol linebacking corps. The Eagles countered with an 11-5 record and a top ten defense of their own. New Orleans struck first, with a 1-yd. touchdown run by Craig "Ironhead" Heyward, but the Eagles would even the score later in the first quarter with a 57-yd. touchdown pass from Randall Cunningham to Fred Barnett. New Orleans would get a second quarter field goal from Morten Anderson and a 7 yard touchdown strike from Bobby Hebert to Quinn Early to take a 17-7 lead into halftime, sending a wave of excitement through the home crowd. The teams would trade field goals in the 3rd quarter New Orleans Saints Hats , giving the Saints a 20-10 lead into the final quarter. Things fell apart rapidly for New Orleans in the 4th quarter though. Philadelphia drew within striking distance when Barnett, who would have 102 receiving yards, would catch his second touchdown pass of the day. The Eagles then took their first lead on the day when Heath Sherman, who had 105 rushing yards, scored on a 6-yd. scoring run. Meanwhile, the Saints offense was suddenly powerless to respond, and the Eagles would widen their lead when Hall of Famer Reggie White nailed Hebert in the end zone for a safety. Towards the end of the game, Hebert threw an interception to Eagles cornerback Eric Allen, Hebert's 3rd of the game and Allen's second of the day. Allen took took the interception back for an 18 yard touchdown to provide the game clinching score, leaving Saints fans to wonder what might have been, and squandering one of the best teams in New Orleans Saints history. The Eagles outscored New Orleans in the 4th quarter 26-0 on their way to the 36-20 win, one of only two road playoff victories in Philadelphia postseason history. Photo by Doug Benc/Getty ImagesThe Saints and Eagles would meet again in the playoffs fourteen years later, on January 13, 2007. It was the first year coach Sean Payton and quarterback Drew Brees were with the team, and they led the Saints back into the playoffs with a 10-6 record as NFC South champions on the strength of the league's best offense and a third ranked pass defense. They would host the NFC East champion Eagles and the league's second ranked offense in the divisional round, a rematch of an October 15 game in New Orleans that the Saints won, 27-24. First quarter scoring was quiet, with only the Saints converting a John Carney field goal. Carney extended the lead to 6-0 early in the second, but the Eagles struck back quickly when quarterback Jeff Garcia found former Saints Donte' Stallworth on a 75-yd. touchdown pass to take the lead. New Orleans would regain the lead with a four yard scoring run by Reggie Bush, but the Saints would go into halftime trailing 14-13 after a short touchdown run by Brian Westbrook at the end of the half. The Eagles would extend their lead on the first drive of the second half when Westbrook blazed for a 62-yd. touchdown run New Orleans Saints Womens Hoodie , part of his 116 rushing yards for the day. The Saints would take control of the game with their rushing attack in the second half, as Deuce McAllister rushed for 143 yards and Bush added 52 to combine with Brees 243 passing yards. McAllister scored back to back touchdowns in the 3rd quarter, the first on a five yard run followed by an 11 yard scoring reception to put the Saints back in the lead, 27-21 entering the fourth quarter. The New Orleans defense held the Eagles to only a 4th quarter field goal, holding on for a 27-24 win that sent them to their first ever conference championship game. Photo by Al Bello/Getty ImagesThe two teams would again meet up on the playoff battlefield seven years later, on January 4, 2014. This time, the game was a wild card round showdown to be played in Philadelphia on a cold Saturday night. New Orleans entered the playoffs with an 11-5 record, but second in the NFC South, sending them on the road to face an Eagles team that had a 10-6 record but had won the NFC East. Both teams boasted offenses that were ranked in the league's top five, but the defenses held the game scoreless until the second quarter. The Saints got on the scoreboard first, with a Shayne Graham field goal, but Philadelphia took the lead with a late quarter touchdown pass from quarterback Nick Foles to Riley Cooper. Drew Brees then marched his Saints 47 yards with less than 1:50 left in the half for another Graham kick that cut the halftime deficit to 7-6. New Orleans regained the lead on a 3rd quarter touchdown pass from Brees to wideout Lance Moore, then extended it to 20-7on a touchdown run by Mark Ingram. Philly closed the deficit when running back LeSean McCoy went in for a short touchdown run near the end of the quarter, and the two teams traded field goals early in the 4th quarter. Philadelphia then took a late lead, when Foles found tight end Zach Ertz on a short touchdown pass, giving the Eagles a 24-23 lead with only 4:34 remaining. Brees would again lead his team on a late march, this time a 10-play effort highlighted by three tough runs from Khiry Robinson. Eventually, the Saints moved into position for Shayne Graham's winning 32-yd. field goal with no time left on the clock. The 26-24 win was the first road triumph in New Orleans postseason history. Photo by Doug Pensinger/Getty ImagesSean Payton and Drew Brees have led the Saints to a 7-5 postseason record, and a perfect 5-0 home playoff record Womens Customized New Orleans Saints Jerseys , where they have averaged 35.8 points per game. Brees has a 6-2 record against the Eagles as the Saints starting quarterback, including a 4-1 mark in the Dome. He threw for 360 yards and four touchdowns in the Saints pounding of the Eagles back in November, part of a 546 yard offensive effort. The New Orleans defense demolished the Philadelphia offense that afternoon as well, holding them to just 196 yards while forcing 3 turnovers. The Daily Advertiser-USA TODAY NThe Eagles are again led by Foles at quarterback, and are a battle tested and confident group. The Saints however, have been on a focused mission since their heartbreaking playoff loss in Minnesota last January. They have had two weeks to rest injuries and rejuvenate themselves after a dominant regular season. New Orleans will most likely be able to pepper the Eagles injury plagued secondary and 30th ranked pass defense, while hoping to establish balance with their talented running game and powerful offensive line. Defensively, the Saints look to flex the muscle of their 2nd ranked run defense, while putting heavy pressure on Foles by winning the battle up front. A game long battle between the talented Philadelphia wideouts and tight ends against the New Orleans secondary will be a major factor in the game, but this Saints defense showed the ability to create big plays down the second half of the season. The defending champs won't go down without a fight, but they won't be able to match the firepower on either side of ball that the fiercely motivated Saints have at home. SAINTS 31EAGLES 17 New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees has become the NFL’s fourth quarterback to eclipse 500 passing touchdowns. It came in Week 7’s Sunday road game against the Baltimore Ravens, as Brees connected with Benjamin Watson with less than two minutes to go in the first half to help give the Saints a 7-3 lead. The game itself has been quite interesting, as the two teams have been back and forth. The Saints went for a 20-play drive to open the game, which included several 4th Down attempts. Unfortunately, the option play to Alvin Kamara resulted in a fumble.NFL’s All-Time Passing Touchdown LeadersPeyton Manning - 539Brett Favre - 508Tom Brady - 504Drew Brees - 500Brees previously became the NFL’s all-time leading passer against the Washington Redskins in Week 5, and could have got the record in a blowout victory. Lamar Jackson ran 27 times and threw only 19 passes to win his first NFL start. That's not a typo.Filling in for injured quarterback Joe Flacco, Jackson ran for 117 yards in Baltimore's 24-21 victory over Cincinnati on Sunday. The 2016 Heisman Trophy winner had more rushing attempts than any quarterback since 1970 and became the first to gain over 100 yards since Colin Kaepernick had 113 on Nov. 27, 2016.Calling his own number worked so Ravens coach John Harbaugh let Jackson tuck it and take off all day. But old-school football won't cut it in a pass-crazy league where quarterbacks are posting ridiculous numbers every week. Even Harbaugh realizes Jackson can't run the ball at that pace in the future."Yeah, you don't want your quarterback getting hit that much," Harbaugh said Monday. "It's not going to last that way. So, that's pretty self-evident."Plenty of running quarterbacks have been successful, though taking hits exposes them to more injuries. Michael Vick is the all-time leading rusher among quarterbacks but he missed a bunch of games during his career. Carson Wentz isn't considered a "running QB" but he tore two knee ligaments on a scramble last season and missed the playoffs and Super Bowl."Quarterbacks don't run forever in the NFL Authentic Wil Lutz Jersey ," Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said after Jackson juked and sprinted his way past his team. "Sooner or later, they get hurt, and they don't run the same."NOT INTERESTED: After losing quarterback Alex Smith for the rest of the season, the NFC East-leading Redskins signed Mark Sanchez to be Colt McCoy's backup. They also worked out Kellen Clemens, Josh Johnson, T.J. Yates and EJ Manuel.Sanchez hasn't started a game since 2015. He has thrown 86 touchdown passes and has 86 interceptions with a 73.9 career passer rating. Clemens (16 TDs, 21 INTs, 68.9), Johnson (5 TDs, 10 INTs, 57.7), Yates (10 TDs, 11 INTs, 70.7) and Manuel (20 TDs Youth Patrick Robinson Jersey , 16 INTs, 77.1) are much less impressive. But there's an unsigned quarterback 鈥?Kaepernick 鈥?with 72 TDs, 30 INTs and 88.9 rating. He's also 4-2 in the playoffs. Like the rest of the NFL, the Redskins weren't interested.RUNNING IT UP: Saints coach Sean Payton defended his decision to go for a fourth-and-7 leading by 31 points early in the fourth quarter. Drew Brees threw a 37-yard TD pass to Alvin Kamara with 13:15 left in a 45-7 win over Philadelphia. Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins, who began his career with the Saints and was beat on the play, wasn't pleased. He raised both of his middle fingers at Payton. But Jenkins spoke to Payton after the game and told a reporter: "I'm a competitor. I love Sean to death. I know what type of guy and coach he is. That was more so personal between me and him."UNAGGRESSIVE DOUG: Eagles coach Doug Pederson's unconventional style was lauded during the team's run to a Super Bowl victory last season, but he's played it safe more often this year. On the opening possession in Philadelphia's lopsided loss at New Orleans, the Eagles faced a fourth down and less than a yard at the Saints 24. Pederson elected to punt even though his offense needed to try and score and keep Brees and Co. off the field as long as possible."That's one I look at that maybe you do something different right," Pederson said in hindsight.NO CHALLENGE: Broncos coach Vance Joseph decided not to challenge a 2-point conversion to save a timeout and it nearly cost him until Brandon McManus kicked a 34-yard field goal as time expired to beat the Chargers. Joseph chose not to toss the red flag after Case Keenum came up short on a 2-point draw following Phillip Lindsay's touchdown run that put Denver ahead 20-19 with 12 minutes left. He said one of the officials told the quarterback his team should challenge the call because it was so close. But Joseph said his assistants in the booth didn't see it clearly enough to risk losing a timeout.AP Pro Football writer Arnie Stapleton and AP Sports Writer David Ginsburg contributed to this report. www.nflshopoutlet.com/detroit-lions

Zach Ertz caught the go-ahead touchdown pass in Philadelphia's victory over New England in the Super Bowl and hasn't stopped making receptions.Ertz is on pace to have a record-setting season for tight ends.Carson Wentz's favorite target has 75 catches for 789 yards and five touchdowns in nine games. If he keeps it up P. J. Williams Jersey , Ertz will finish with 133 catches and 1,402 yards. He would shatter Jason Witten's record of 110 catches set in 2012 and break Rob Gronkowski's mark of 1,327 yards receiving in 2011."Zach is a tough cover for whoever they put on him and we trust him to make plays and get open and he does a good job of it," Wentz said.Ertz had 14 receptions for 145 yards and two TDs but the Eagles lost to Dallas 27-20 on Sunday Night Football. Here's a look inside more numbers entering Week 11:DREW'S DAY: Drew Brees threw his 509th touchdown pass to move past Brett Favre for second on the all-time list. Peyton Manning is first with 539. Tom Brady has 505. Brees also completed 22 of 25 passes (88 percent) in New Orleans' 51-14 win at Cincinnati. His 77.3 completion percentage this season is better than his record-setting mark of 72 percent last year.MORE ACCURACY: Five quarterbacks have a completion percentage over 70 percent: Brees, Kirk Cousins (71.3), Derek Carr (71.3), Matt Ryan (71.1) and Wentz (71.0). It had happened only nine times previously in NFL history.CAPTAIN ANDREW: Andrew Luck has at least three TD passes in six consecutive games for the Colts. Only Brady and Peyton Manning had a similar streak. Brady reached 10 games in 2007 and Manning did it in eight straight in 2004.IMPRESSIVE QBS: Pittsburgh's Ben Roethlisberger (158.3), Cleveland's Baker Mayfield (151.2), Brees (150.4) and Chicago's Mitchell Trubisky (148.6) had a passer rating over 145 (minimum 20 attempts) in Week 10, surpassing the previous high of three done four times previously.MORE MAHOMES: Patrick Mahomes broke Len Dawson's Chiefs single-season record by throwing his NFL-leading 31st TD pass in only his 10th game.TB12 MILESTONE: Brady played his 300th game Ken Crawley Jersey , including playoffs. He's second behind Favre, who played in 326 games.ROOKIE'S RUN: Nick Chubb's 92-yard touchdown run in Cleveland's win over Atlanta was the longest rushing TD in franchise history and the second-longest by a rookie in NFL history. Bobby Gage had a 97-yard TD run for the Steelers as a rookie in 1949.T.O. TOPPED: Larry Fitzgerald passed Terrell Owens for second place on the all-time list for most yards receiving. Fitzgerald has 15,952. Jerry Rice is first with 22,895.MOVE OVER, MEGATRON: Julio Jones reached 10,000 yards receiving faster than anyone, doing it in his 104th game. Calvin Johnson had been the fastest at 115 games.ODELL'S OLD NEWS: Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas had eight catches for 70 yards and two TDs against the Bengals. His 274 catches through 40 career games is most at this point of a career. Odell Beckham Jr. had 266 receptions in his first 40 games.600 CLUB: The Redskins need one more win to become the fifth franchise in league history to have 600 regular-season wins, joining the Bears (755 wins), Packers (741), Giants (689) and Steelers (620). A look at some key fantasy football questions for Week 10:WHICH UNDER THE RADAR PLAYERS HAVE THE BEST CHANCE FOR A BIG GAME THIS WEEK?Several Washington players — quarterback Alex Smith A.J. Klein Jersey Salute to Service , running back Adrian Peterson, wide receiver Maurice Harris and tight end Vernon Davis — all have the potential to post big numbers this week against the Buccaneers. The Bucs are top 6 or better in fantasy points allowed to each of the main offensive positions. Smith isn’t a prototypical fantasy quarterback but the Bucs have given up multiple TDs to the position in six straight games.Look for Smith to connect often with Harris, who is coming off of a career-best performance with 10 catches for 124 yards receiving last week. With WR Paul Richardson out for the rest of the season and Jamison Crowder’s status for Week 10 unclear, Harris should be heavily targeted and has an especially good matchup against a Buccaneers defense that has been torched by fellow slot receivers this season. If Crowder plays, Harris can still be productive on the outside.Even with the injuries to Washington’s offensive line, Peterson should bounce back from his 16-yard performance in Week 9. Tampa Bay has allowed five TDs to running backs over the past two weeks. He’s expected to play, but tight end Jordan Reed has been limited in practices due to a back injury. He also hasn’t scored a TD since Week 1 or recorded more than 43 receiving yards in five straight games. Davis caught five passes for 62 yards in Week 9 and has a favorable matchup against Tampa Bay, which has allowed the second most receiving yards to TEs.Another QB to consider is Andy Dalton. He takes on the Saints, who’ve allowed an average of 354 passing yards to QBs over the past three weeks.Dalton will be without his top receiver A.J. Green, but John Ross has been practicing in full this week and has an opportunity for a big game against the Saints Authentic Marshon Lattimore Jersey , who have given up the most fantasy points per game (FPPG) to WRs.At running back, if Seattle’s Chris Carson is either limited or out again in Week 10, Mike Davis has an opportunity for a big game. He faces the Rams, who’ve allowed two TDs to RBs and at least 101 rushing yards in each of their last two games.Saints TE Ben Watson has scored TDs in two of his last three games and takes on the Bengals, who have allowed the second most FPPG to the position.HOW MUCH OF A FANTASY IMPACT WILL DEZ BRYANT HAVE WITH NEW ORLEANS?Let’s face it, Bryant’s skills had already been eroding for the past few seasons. It’s not fair to expect too much from Bryant this season. Name recognition has put him back on the fantasy horizon. Asking a wideout who hasn’t played a live NFL game since last December to step in, learn a new system and be fantasy productive right away is a bit much. Michael Thomas, Tre’Quan Smith, Watson and Alvin Kamara will all easily get more targets on a weekly basis. We all know that QB Drew Brees already loves to spread the ball around.CAN 49ERS QB NICK MULLENS BUILD UPON LAST WEEK’S PERFORMANCE AND IS HE STARTABLE IN WEEK 10?Mullens has what appears to be a very good matchup in Week 10, however the 1-7 Giants have held opposing QBs to just one passing TD in each of the past two weeks. While WR Marquise Goodwin and TE George Kittle provide Mullens with potential TD makers Limited Marcus Williams Jersey , WR Pierre Garcon, his most targeted receiver last week, has been limited this week (knee) and his progress should be monitored. Mullens is definitely startable in two QB leagues, but he’s a riskier play in other formats. He has a bye in Week 11, but if he’s granted another start in Week 12, he’ll take on the Buccaneers, and they’ve given up the most FPPG to QBs entering Week 10.WHICH COLTS TIGHT END HAS MORE FANTASY VALUE FOR THE REST OF THE SEASON, JACK DOYLE OR ERIC EBRON?It depends on your league’s scoring format. Both have value, but in point-per-reception scoring leagues, Doyle will likely out-produce Ebron. With Doyle missing five games Alvin Kamara Jersey Salute to Service , QB Andrew Luck targeted Ebron 15 times in the red zone, tied for the fourth most in the NFL. However, Doyle averaged just over seven targets in the three games he’s played this season. In those same three games, Ebron averaged just four targets.WHICH RUNNING BACKS HAVE UPSIDE BASED ON THEIR REST-OF-THE-SEASON OUTLOOK?Cardinals running back David Johnson is an excellent buy-low candidate. Four of his last seven opponents are in the top 10 in FPPG allowed to opposing running backs.Bears running back Jordan Howard has quietly had a productive season. His 3.5 yards per carry is underwhelming, but he’s scored five TDs through his first eight games. He is seventh in the league with 20 red zone rushing attempts, and with an average of just under 16 carries per game, Howard is a major part of the Bears offensive scheme and will continue to have ample opportunities to be fantasy relevant. nflshopoutlet.com
2018 New Orleans Saints Training Camp Preview: Cornerback The New Orleans Saints won the NFC South division last year for the first time since 2011 Limited Rickey Jackson Jersey , thanks in large part to a vastly improved defense that complimented their always prolific offense. The play and health of the Saints secondary, often a team weakness, was a major reason for the improvement. The team had an incredible Seven defensive backs miss significantly time with injuries in 2016, severely limiting any consistent effectiveness. The Saints addressed the issue in a big way before entering last season, drafting a cornerback with the 11th overall pick and a safety, Marcus Williams, with the 42nd overall selection in the 2017 draft to add to their already very young defensive backfield. After previewing the safety position last week, we take a look at what could turn out to be one of the deepest positions on the team in today's training camp preview.CORNERBACK Key Losses: Delvin Breaux (free agent, CFL)Key Additions: Patrick Robinson (free agent, Eagles), Natrell Jamerson (draft, 5th round)Photo by Chris Graythen/Getty ImagesMarshon Lattimore surprisingly fell to number eleven in last spring's draft, and the Saints wasted no time in pouncing on the Ohio State star. Lattimore would not only win the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year, but became the first New Orleans cornerback since Eric Allen in 1995 to be voted to the Pro Bowl, and just the fourth cornerback in franchise's 52-yr. history to receive such an honor. Lattimore led the Saints in interceptions (5, including one for a touchdown), pass breakups (18), and quickly established himself as one of the league's top cornerbacks. He can play either outside or slot Willie Roaf Jersey Salute to Service , is equally effective in man to man or off coverage, and would often lock on to the opposition's top receiver. He has the size, athleticism, and natural cover skills to match up with the NFL's best receivers. Lattimore was primarily responsible for limiting star wideouts Jarvis Landry, Randall Cobb, Jordy Nelson, DaVante Adams, DeSean Jackson, and Mike Evans to an average of just 25 yards per game when facing the Saints last season, and not a single touchdown reception. Atlanta's Julio Jones, widely considered as perhaps the top receiver in the league, was held out of the end zone in two memorable matchups against the Saints star rookie in what looks to be a gripping rivalry for many years going forward. Lattimore's ability to take on the opponent's best receiver with little help has an effect on the entire defense. It allows coordinator Dennis Allen to employ more intricate coverage schemes, as well as freeing up extra defenders for run support or more aggressive blitz packages. Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY SportsKen Crawley was literally thrown into the fire in 2016, his rookie season. After making the team as an undrafted free agent from Colorado, Crawley was pressed into a starting role due to the team's mounting injuries in the secondary. The result was a predictably uneven performance, but one where Crawley showed potential as he gained valuable experience. After an inconsistent performance last preseason that caused him to be inactive for the first two games of the season, Crawley was inserted back into the the starting lineup, where he and Lattimore formed one of the better cornerback duos in the league. Due to Lattimore's lockdown skills Drew Brees Jersey , Crawley was often targeted by opposing offenses, and responded with the second most pass breakups on the team, along with his first career interception. He was particularly tough to throw against near the goal line, giving the opposition fits with his tall frame and long reach. Crawley does struggle with smaller, shifty receivers, but performs his best against big physical wideouts, a trait that certainly suits him well against the bigger targets through the NFC. Like Crawley, De'Vante Harris was pressed into action during his rookie year of 2016 after making the team as an undrafted free agent. Unlike Crawley, Harris has not progressed, struggling mightily a season ago. He opened up the year as a starter in the first two games against Minnesota and New England, both losses. Harris was benched after those two contests, as the New Orleans defense surrendered a combined 692 yards passing, six touchdowns and 80% completion percentage. His defensive snaps were limited after that, but in two games when Harris did receive more extensive playing time, the Saints gave up a combined 665 yards and five passing touchdowns in games against the Redskins and Rams. Although he will be given an opportunity to compete for a roster spot again, Harris seems likely to be the first veteran cut from this group. Kim Klement-USA TODAY SportsAfter playing in less than six quarters in his first two seasons due to injury, P.J. Williams played in all 16 games in 2017, starting six. Although he had 2 interceptions and nine pass breakups Mark Ingram Jersey , Williams' performance was inconsistent, and he often struggled in man coverage. Arthur Maulet looks to make a bid for extensive playing time this season, after making the squad as an undrafted free agent last year. The native of Kenner, Louisiana is a bit undersized, but is an aggressive man-to-man defender with explosive leaping ability. He earned a roster spot last season with solid coverage during the preseason and standout special teams play. Another special teams standout was reserve cornerback Justin Hardee, who had the third most snaps on the team on special teams, providing solid kick coverage, and blocked a punt against Tampa Bay, returning it for a key touchdown. Photo by Brian Kersey/Getty ImagesPhoto by Abbie Parr/Getty ImagesPatrick Robinson returned to the Saints this offseason, where he played for five seasons after being drafted in the first round (32nd overall) in 2010. Robinson was often inconsistent during his first stint in New Orleans, and has played for three different teams in the previous three years, but was one of the better slot corners in the league last season with the Eagles. Natrell Jamerson was drafted in the 5th round this spring, in part because of his outstanding special teams play, and also for his versatility in the secondary at Wisconsin. Jamerson, who was recruited to the Badgers as a wide receiver, played both safety and corner during his final three collegiate seasons. He will likely see snaps at both cornerback and safety this preseason, and shows natural defensive back instincts despite his inexperience. Crawley, Harris Authentic Max Unger Jersey , and Maulet all made impacts as undrafted college free agents, and the latest player to watch may be former University of Cincinnati star Linden Stephens. Stephens has both the size and athleticism to match up with most receivers, and exhibits the aggressive coverage style that Dennis Allen and secondary coach Aaron Glenn prefer to play. The top three roster spots at cornerback look set, with Lattimore, Crawley, and likely Robinson. The major questions at this position are this:1) Will the Saints get the erratic Patrick Robinson of 2010-16, or the Robinson that starred for a tough Philadelphia defense a year ago?2) Will any of the young New Orleans corners (Maulet, Jamerson, Stephens) be able to take spots away from more established veterans like Williams, Hardee, and Harris?Competition for those final 2-3 cornerback positions should be fierce throughout training camp and preseason games. The performance of Lattimore and Crawley helped spark a major defensive improvement in 2017, but the defense struggled when either of the two were out of the lineup. The improved depth of the Saints cornerback unit could be one of the keys to a championship run in 2018. The Saints still have on-field business to conduct this season, but they’re not letting that stop them from taking care of some off-field affairs as well.Field Yates of ESPN reports that the Saints have signed tight end Josh Hill to a three-year contract extension. The deal reportedly has a total value of $8.85 million, although there’s no further information about guarantees or structure.Hill joined the Saints as an undrafted free agent in 2013 and has developed into a fixture as a blocker on offense over the years. He’s caught 32 passes while making 22 starts and appearing in every game over the last two seasons and also added six catches for 103 yards and a touchdown in the playoffs last season. With Benjamin Watson announcing his plan to retire at the end of this year, the Saints will be making some changes at tight end this offseason. Parting ways with Hill won’t be one of them. Custom Los Angeles Rams Jerseys

Running back Donnel Pumphrey was among the players released by the Philadelphia Eagles on Saturday.Pumphrey was a fourth-round pick in 2017 after becoming the all-time NCAA rushing leader at San Diego State. He spent his rookie season on injured reserve because of a hamstring injury and missed the first three preseason games this year because of injuries. Pumphrey could return on the practice squad if he clears waivers. The Eagles also acquired safety Deiondre' Hall from the Bears for a conditional seventh-round pick in 2019. Hall is suspended for the first game and won't count against the 53-man roster.Quarterbacks Christian Hackenberg and Joe Callahan Bobby Hebert Jersey Salute to Service , and veteran defensive end Steven Means also were released.Safety Chris Maragos was placed on the physically unable to perform list, and defensive tackle Tim Jernigan on reserve/non-football injury list. The list of players released also includes: receivers Kamar Aiken, Markus Wheaton, Rashard Davis, Darius Prince, Bryce Treggs, Greg Ward and Tim Wilson; running backs Matt Jones and Josh Adams; tight ends Anthony Denham, Billy Brown and Gannon Sinclair; cornerbacks DJ Killings, De'Vante Bausby and Chandon Sullivan; linebackers Jaboree Williams Morten Andersen Jersey , Kyle Wilson and Asantay Brown; defensive linemen Elijah Qualls, Joe Ostman, Danny Ezechukwu, Aziz Shittu and Winston Craig; offensive linemen Toby Weathersby, Aaron Evans, Jon Toth, Darrell Greene and Taylor Hart; and safeties Ironhead Gallon and Jeremy Reaves.2 Ups and 2 Downs from yesterday’s loss to the Bucs Well that one stung, didn’t it? The New Orleans Saints continue their putrid record in Week 1 games. But in what was another roller-coaster of a game with plenty of ups and downs along the way, here are a couple that stood out.Photo by Wesley Hitt/Getty ImagesUp: Drew BreesDrew Brees deserved to win this game.He finished the game 37/45 for 439 yards Authentic Sam Mills Jersey , 3 TDs, a two-point conversion, and no interceptions. He nailed short throws and intermediate throws, and still showed plenty of zip on the ball. After the Saints traded for Teddy Bridgewater to possibly fill in as the QB of the future in New Orleans, as early as next season, Drew Brees is putting to bed the talks that he doesn’t have anything left in the tank.Photo by Jonathan Bachman/Getty ImagesUp: Alvin KamaraHe couldn’t really get anything going in the running game consistently (with only 29 yards), but he did finish the game with 141 total yards of offense and 3 scores. He showed multiple times why he was the 2017 Offensive Rookie of the Year, looking every bit as explosive and elusive as he was in 2017. Multiple times he looked like he was going to be cornered for a loss or minimal gain, but he would just turn on the jets and fight for extra yards. On the other hand Limited Rickey Jackson Jersey , he did show that running between the tackles is still not his strong suit, so it will be interesting to see how Kamara is used going forward.Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY SportsDown: the rest of the Saints offenseAs great as Kamara and Brees were in this game, the rest of the Saints offense left a lot to be desired. The Saints struggled to find running room as a team, feeling the effects of Mark Ingram’s suspension, rushing for only 43 total yards in the game. Cameron Meredith was inactive. Tre’Quan Smith was targeted once with zero catches. Michael Thomas, for as great a stat line as he put up in the game (180 receiving yards and a TD), he had two critical mistakes in the game. He dropped an easy completion for a first down that ended up resulting in a Saints punt and points for the Bucs, and then later lost a costly fumble that, again Willie Roaf Jersey Salute to Service , resulted in points for the Bucs. Mike, you’re better than this. And speaking of “Mike’s,” Mike Gillislee - you’ve already been cut from one team for fumbles. Don’t make it another.Chuck Cook-USA TODAY SportsDown: the entire Saints defenseDefense?!WHAT defense?!I honestly cannot think of anything the Saints defense did well in this game. They generated absolutely no pressure on Ryan Fitzpatrick (with zero sacks and only two QB hits). They struggled to stop the run. There were multiple botches in coverage. They couldn’t turn the ball over. All in all, it was an absolutely terrible showing for what is supposed to a promising group of defensive players.Go get ‘em next week, boys. nflshopoutlet.com
Saints To Bring Running Backs Jamaal Charles and Terrance West In For Tryouts The New Orleans Saints are hosting running backs Jamaal Charles and Terrance West for visits this Wednesday A.J. Klein Jersey Salute to Service , according to multiple sources. The Saints, who will be without starter Mark Ingram for the season's first four games due to a league suspension, are likely looking for potential veteran insurance behind last year's offensive rookie of the year Alvin Kamara. Photo by Brian Bahr/Getty ImagesThe 31-yr. old Charles has been in the league ten years, originally a 3rd round draft choice by the Kansas City Chiefs out of Texas. He 7,556 yards rushing in his career, five seasons of over 1,000 yards rushing, 4 Pro Bowl selections, and two years of All-Pro recognition in his nine seasons with the Chiefs, which included three seasons of over 1,200 yards on the ground. At his best Authentic Marshon Lattimore Jersey , Charles was a speedy breakaway threat capable of taking the ball to the end zone from anywhere on the field. He has averaged 5.4 yards per carry and has 44 career rushing touchdowns, including a league high 12 rushing scores in 2012. He is also a capable receiver out of the backfield, catching 308 career passes for 2,586 yards and 20 receiving scores. Photo by Jason Hanna/Getty ImagesCharles was a focal point of the Kansas City offense from 2009-'14, although he did miss all but 2 games of the 2011 season with injury. During those five healthy years, Charles averaged nearly 1,300 yards on the ground, 46 receptions and almost 400 yards per season as a receiver, and 55 total offensive touchdowns. Multiple major knee injuries led to Charles missing nearly all of the 2011, 2015, and 2016 seasons Limited Marcus Williams Jersey , robbing himof some of his breathtaking explosiveness, and leading to his release from Kansas City following the '16 season. He was picked up by the Denver Broncos, where he played 14 games last year, but rushed for just 296 yards with one touchdown and added only 129 more receiving. Photo by Ezra Shaw/Getty ImagesWest is a 27-yr. old veteran who came into the league as a 3rd round draft pick by the Cleveland Browns in 2014. After some success as a rookie (673 yards rushing, 4 touchdowns), he played his way from the Tennessee Titans practice squad and onto the Baltimore Ravens roster in 2015, where he stayed until the conclusion of last year. West led the Ravens in rushing in 2016, with 774 yards and 5 touchdowns, while adding 45 receptions and another score. West struggled with a calf injury, among other ailments, that limited his effectiveness last season Alvin Kamara Jersey Salute to Service , allowing him action in just five games. Photo by Adam Bettcher/Getty ImagesMake no mistake, the success of the Saints backfield certainly rests on the talents of Kamara, and Ingram upon his return. Ingram's suspension does leave the team with little proven depth at running back, however. Jonathan Williams and Trey Edmunds will both be entering their second active professional seasons, but have a combined 20 NFL carries between them. Boston Scott, an exciting 6th round pick this spring from Louisiana Tech, has yet to see NFL action. The Saints interest in Charles, West, or Tim Hightower, who was at New Orleans mini-camp on Tuesday, would primarily be as trusted depth behind Kamara until Ingram's return. ESPN’s Monday night Drew Brees love-fest contained a subtle but unmistakable caveat. Booger McFarland suggested that Brees could finish among the best 10 quarterbacks of all time.Booger Authentic Tommylee Lewis Jersey , Brees already is there. The real question is whether he’ll finish among the top five of all time, thanks to the confluence of winning a championship (maybe two) and statistical achievement that will see Brees retire as the holder of every all-time record, with the exception of interceptions.Brees already has the most passing yards, most career completions, most seasons leading the league in passing yards, most consecutive 4,000-yard seasons, most consecutive games with a passing touchdown, and most career 400-yard passing games. He also has five 5,000-yard passing seasons. The rest of all past and current NFL quarterbacks has four. The top five quarterbacks of all time should include (in no particular order for these purposes) Tom Brady, Peyton Manning Tre'Quan Smith Jersey , Joe Montana, and John Elway. Brees has as much of a claim to the fifth spot as anyone else, from Brett Favre to Dan Marino to Aaron Rodgers to Warren Moon to anyone else. And Brees still has more work to do. Another Super Bowl appearance or win could cement his credentials, as would two or three more seasons of big passing numbers. So, yes, he’s already an all-time top-10 quarterback. He’s on the fringes of the top five, and he’ll likely get there before he’s done. Clearance NFL Jerseys
After Houston fell into a quick one-run hole Thomas Davis Jersey , Evan Gattis appreciated how the Astros came right back swinging.
Fences-clearing swings.
”It’s like let `em know we’re here, you know?” he said.
Gattis hit a three-run homer and drove in five runs, Carlos Correa returned from a four-game absence and homered on the first pitch he saw, and the Astros beat the Oakland Athletics 6-3 on Tuesday night for their sixth straight win.
Gattis has seven homers and 20 RBIs over his last 14 games.
”It’s been good for the last month,” he said. ”It’s easy to lose sight of that when you have a couple games where it’s like 1 for 8 or 9 or something like that the last couple games in Texas. It’s good to kind of sustain it a little bit.”
Lance McCullers Jr. (8-3) struck out five over seven strong innings, allowing two runs and five hits while winning a second straight decision. He surrendered Stephen Piscotty’s sacrifice fly in the second and then kept Oakland’s powerful order in check.
Correa was back in the lineup at shortstop after missing a series sweep at Texas with soreness in his right side after leaving last Wednesday’s game against the Mariners following an at-bat in the seventh inning.
Oakland scored on a wild pitch in the first before the Astros answered against Daniel Mengden (6-6). Correa homered leading off the second. Gattis hit his 11th homer three batters later, and then chased Mengden with a two-run double with two outs in the fifth.
”He’s obviously seeing the ball and he’s putting the barrel on it and coming up with huge hits Trai Turner Jersey , a lot of them doing damage,” manager A.J. Hinch said.
Matt Chapman hit three doubles before being hit by a pitch in the left hand in the eighth by Collin McHugh. X-rays were negative. Chapman’s three doubles matched the Oakland single-game record, done for the 28th time and first since Matt Joyce last Sept. 27.
”He’s using the whole field, seeing the ball early. Earlier in the season he was similar to this but right now I think he’s seeing the ball as well as he has all year,” A’s manager Bob Melvin said. ”You’re seeing that the last few games.”
Ken Giles finished for his 11th save in 11 tries as the World Series champions moved to 6-1 so far this season against the A’s.
Both teams left the bases loaded in the fourth.
Mengden was charged with six runs and eight hits.
BIG-TIME PARADE
The A’s had some fun with the NBA Golden State Warriors’ victory parade through downtown Oakland on Tuesday.
”We’re back after a day off and Oakland even had a parade to celebrate us returning,” the A’s posted on Twitter.
SPECIAL NOD
Hinch is making a special addition to his All-Star coaching staff for next month’s game in Washington: Retired Astros first base coach Rich Dauer will be in uniform and assisting Hinch.
”Just like old times,” Hinch said.
Last November Sam Mills Jersey , Dauer was rushed to a hospital immediately after Houston’s victory parade to celebrate its first World Series title. He survived a difficult surgery on a blood clot in his brain.
Dauer played for the Baltimore Orioles from 1976-85, winning a World Series in 1983. Dauer was hired by the Astros after the 2014 season.
TRAINER’S ROOM
Astros: There’s no structural issue with RHP Joe Smith’s sore elbow that put him on the disabled list last week. Smith saw a couple of different doctors and for now it’s just going to take time to let the inflammation calm down, Hinch said.
Athletics: The A’s plan to make a decision as soon as Wednesday on whether RHP Trevor Cahill will need a stint on the DL, which seems likely given his Achilles injury is not improving. Melvin expects RHP Chris Bassitt would return from Triple-A Nashville to replace Cahill in the rotation. ”If we do this, he deserves another chance,” Melvin said. … LHP Brett Anderson is scheduled for his first bullpen session Wednesday as he works back from a strained shoulder that landed him on the DL on May 19.

The Oakland Raiders never really recovered from the decision to trade Jon Gruden to Tampa Bay 16 years ago.
There was a Super Bowl trip the following season when Oakland lost to Gruden’s Buccaneers and another playoff appearance in 2016 under Jack Del Rio that garnered little optimism because quarterback Derek Carr was injured.
But there has been mostly a run of losing seasons under nine coaches as only the Cleveland Browns had lost more games during Gruden’s 16-year absence than the Raiders.
Owner Mark Davis hopes that will all change now that he has finally lured Gruden back for a second stint as the team’s coach.
A person with knowledge of the team’s plans said the Raiders are planning a news conference Tuesday to announce that Gruden is leaving the broadcast booth to come back to coaching. The person spoke on condition of anonymity Friday because the team has made no formal announcement.
The Raiders fired Del Rio following a disappointing six-win season and talk immediately turned to Gruden, who has been out of coaching since being fired by Tampa Bay following the 2008 season. Gruden has spent the past nine years as the lead analyst for ESPN’s ”Monday Night Football” telecast. He is scheduled to work his final game Saturday in Kansas City when the Chiefs take on the Tennessee Titans in a playoff game.
Then after that he will head to Oakland with the task of resurrecting Carr after a down year and getting the Raiders back to the postseason.
Oakland won 12 games in 2016 to earn Del Rio a four-year extension but the team fell flat this season. The offense regressed after the decision to fire coordinator Bill Musgrave and replace him with untested Todd Downing. The defense struggled mightily before a late-season switch from fired coordinator Ken Norton Jr. to play-caller John Pagano.
That led to the decision to fire Del Rio following his third season and go hard after Gruden.
ESPN reported that Gruden will receive a 10-year deal that could be worth close to $100 million. Gruden has already started putting together a staff with Cincinnati defensive coordinator Paul Guenther among those expected to join.
Gruden told ESPN earlier this week that he had a good talk with Davis about returning to the organization and believed there was a ”good chance” it would happen.
Gruden spent four seasons as coach in Oakland from 1998-2001. After leading the Raiders to 8-8 records his first two years, Gruden helped the team reach the AFC title game following the 2000 season and got Oakland back into the playoffs the following season.
His tenure ended shortly after the ”Tuck Rule” loss to the New England Patriots when he was traded the following month to Tampa Bay for two first-round draft picks, two second-rounders and $8 million.
Gruden beat the Raiders in the Super Bowl in his first season with the Buccaneers but didn’t win another playoff game for Tampa Bay in his final six seasons. He has a 95-81 career record.
Gruden’s younger brother, Jay, is headed into his fifth season as coach in Washington. Jay was an assistant on Jon’s staffs in Tampa Bay and now the brothers will be competing against each other. Washington and Oakland are not scheduled to play again until 2021. This is not the first time two brothers have been head coaches in the NFL simultaneously. Jim and John Harbaugh were active for four seasons from 2011-14 in San Francisco and Baltimore, respectively. John’s Ravens beat Jim’s 49ers in the Super Bowl following the 2012 season
The Raiders have complied with the ”Rooney Rule” and interviewed minority candidates for the job Mario Addison Jersey , according to NFL spokesman Joe Lockhart. ”I can tell you we believe the Rooney Rule was complied with,” Lockhart said. ”Minority candidates were interviewed and we will wait and see the decision they make.”
A second person with knowledge of the team’s plans said one of the minority candidates who interviewed was tight ends coach Bobby Johnson. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the Raiders were not releasing the names of candidates.
This would not mark the first time the Raiders brought back a coach for a second stint. Late owner Al Davis hired Art Shell in 2006, 11 years after firing him the first time. Shell went 2-14 that season and was fired after one year.
Other teams have also done it, with one of the most recent notable coaching hires being Joe Gibbs in Washington. Gibbs stepped away following the 1992 season with three Super Bowl titles in his career. He came back in 2004 and had a 30-34 record in four seasons, leading Washington to two playoff berths.
The timing of the news conference was first reported by the Raiders Snake Pit website.
